* As is often the case when a sample is needed it suddenly becomes difficult to produce one. I tried at every waking from 5AMish on. I am currently well enough to sleep about an hour at a time with the right medication, which was timed to wear off about when getting a lung sample would be useful, so it wasn't a bad plan. Nothing. So much nothing. I had reached the point where I decided to just bring the thing with me and go get the x-ray, and had dresssed, when Squirrel came to tell me he needed the car quick, which was fine. I started serious hydration as sometimes that helps.
I literally had just put the key in the ignition when eureka! I quickly labelled it and drove down there to turn it in, masking up first lest I infect everyone. There was the usual wait, but they have good phlebotomists, so the line moved quickly. I popped in at the library on the way to my x-ray which trip involved a bewildering array of back roads, since my small city has something like five competing grid systems all radiating out o the original five towns that got swallowed up into one sprawling, but not even a little dense metro area.
I had correctly remembered which building in the medical district I was aiming for and I swear either the signage is better or the lower amount of vegetation at this time of year made it all dramatically easier to see. As usual, there was trouble with my paperwork, even though the labs were properly submitted. There is always trouble with my paperwork when I go for things like X-rays, MRIs, Cat scans, etc., so I wasn't even a little surprised. It wasn't my doctor being overwhelmed with emergencies this time (50%) chance, but something to do with mis-routing at a central hub (the other 50%), resolved fairly quickly with a fax from my Doctor. It was painful and left me with bruises (from low lying obstacles to trip over, but done.
I have Doctor at too damned early tomorrow, at which point I'll find out how bad it is and what if anything we are doing about it. Let us hope Pharmacy will take my handful of change as a copay. I have enough for full coverage, but not sliding, though now and then Pharmacy waves copays for sliding scale patients if you really need the meds and their quota for the month isn't full. this is why I go there with the limited hours instead of a real pharmacy because they are cheapest and sometimes they will rescue one when all else fails. *fingers crossed*
