They have made a law allowing police to refuse to help people when they are being assaulted and enshrining extreme segregation and discrimination against gay people, denying them access to all public services. I do not understand how this is constitutional, but it is about to become the law of the land in Kansas. I tried to figure out how to explain my emotions about this to those of you too young to remember the War, let alone the Sarajevo Olympics, but I simply can't. Sorry. It's too many things, most of them hard to convey to people for whom these are footnotes at best.. Suffice to say I needed tissues and some away from the computer time. Those of you who know me in person likely have heard my children of Sarajevo and Clinton Administration Ignorance and Islamaphobia story, which is the only thing I've ever been able to say that explains even a little part of how I feel about that War. I'm not up to putting it into writing tonight.
Instead have a heartwarming Olympic Skater story that has nothing at all to do with Sochi.
