Dec. 5th, 2012 01:06 am* They are using tear gas against Democracy protesters at the Egyptian presidential palace.
* The Religious wrong is challenging the California ban on torturing children on the grounds that torturing LGBT children is a part of their religion and therefore a free speech matter. California argues that there is a public interest in preventing serious harm to children whether or not their parents are homophobes.
* Boehner insists that them losing the election on economic grounds means that they have a strong mandate for their plan to lower taxes for the rich at the expense of the poor and middle class and therefore offers the Democrats even less in Budget negotiations:
* Republicans block our Ratifying the International ADA as only 61 out of 100 Senators voted in favor. Republicans came out strongly against fairness and for punishing the disabled, as making public accommodations handicapped accessible in other countries is a terrible blow against freedom. After all the freedom to discriminate should always trump he right of disabled folk to be able to use public restrooms or public transit. The principle of fighting civil rights for the rest of us is now a core value of the Republican party and one of which they are so very proud.
I do not understand how they can look themselves in the mirror after doing this. It would cost us nothing as the law is based on our ADA which is already in force.
* Re: Bob Costas. Y'all know I'm on record for not liking his periodically racist or otherwise inappropriate Olympics coverage, but I completely support his display of back bone when it comes to the silence in this country over gun control. We need real talk about gun control and climate change and it's nice to finally see people in the news media stepping up up a the risk of their careers.
