* Stephen Colbert mocks Paul Ryan's callous half-assed Homeless Shelter photo op:
* It is a good thing I went to bed very early and slept in my close with the litter box in my room, as the plumber showed up. Yay! Squirrel's toilet is working again. I finished my book (The Gods of Riverworld), and spent about an hour watching the cichlids check out the pleco. The pleco was having a fairly active afternoon. At first they darted away from the thrashing to hide on the other side of the elogia, but after a while exploring the left tank, they got bored and swam over to study the pleco. The pleco was characteristically ignoring them as it went about grazing. The pleco would move, and they would dart away, but each time, not as far. The pleco went back into it's cave, and they swam over to peer in. The pleco flipped it's tail. They backed up two inches, then crept forward for more peering. It was very cute. I love how lever and curious they are. I had to go get blood taken, then went to see Looper, which was shockingly good. (Even with the intriguing premise and the talent involved, I wasn't expecting it to be as interesting as it turned out to be. This despite being distracted by things like Joesph playing "Joe" and the prosthetics and the Bruce Willis mannerisms on Joesph Gordon Levitt's face, which periodically toggled my thing with people switching. It's a personal issue, and likely won't bother you. This movie could have been so much less interesting, and they opted not to do that. Good on them, I say.) Anyway, when I got beck, the rams were hovering over the pleco watching it eat. TV for fish! They still clearly consider me potentially dangerous, but I'm hoping they will get used to me soon. One is definitely male, and I am thinking it was a trick of the light last night making them look female. I still need to get a good close up look of them when they are well lighted, something they are resisting.
* There were even more swaps in the mail, so I spent the evening cataloging. Greenwick and Djinni are coming to dinner tomorrow, it being my birthday, so I will likely not post much.
* Greenwick found, "5 Classic Superman Comics That Prove He Used to Be a Dick:" http://www.cracked.com/article_20069_5-classic-superman-comics-that-prove-he-used-to-be-dick.html#ixzz29cWtykAD
I was previously unaware that Superman started out as a villain, but I don't know what else to call that.
* American Horror Story, random thoughts:
I am excited to see the cast list and the set decoration/lighting/etc. are of the expected high quality. (OMG, they got Joesph Feines to act on TV! He mostly does stage with the rare high end film role. And the choice of sinister Doctor? Damn! It's goes on beautifully from there as far as heavy hitting cast). 1. I don't care what they offered me, I'd never stick my hand in a hole like that. It's not for fear of spooks, but because animals like crawl spaces and the like. Animals bite when cornered or threatened. Animals also could have rabies. 2. I like the way they are complicating the sides, instead of making the characters simple. 3. I love the way they are referencing period media, memes, and social elements. The Children's hour, etc.. 4. I am a bit worried about diversity as it's a very white cast. 5. I'm finding the soundtrack annoying and distracting.
