* Three men and a woman have been arrested for involvement in the attempted assassination of Malala Yousafzai and the assault on her two friends. The two shooters are wanted, but still at large. There has been a a day of prayer for her recovery and a call for Fatwah against the Taliban members who attacked you school bus. The Taliban vows to murder her and her father. Malala is on a ventilator at a military hospital in serious condition.

* I apologize for being a bit news light yesterday and today. The Debate ate US news sources, and the Noble prize/EU financial crisis is eating a lot of the European news cycle. I'm pretty sure you're all sick of me ranting about the deliberate nature of the EU financial crisis, and honestly, micro maneuvers between the IMF and Angela Merkel can't possibly interest most of you.

* Someone fired on the Denver Obama campaign headquarters. People were in there but the assassin missed.

* It was nice to see Mr. Biden calling Mr. Ryan on his lies to his face. It was nice to see a tough debate moderator actually moderating.

* There is a particularly nasty attack ad running in my area that accuses the opponent of having done his job as a Defense attorney. The argument is that defense attorneys are by definition terrible human beings who should be vilified. It is squicking me out. We need defense attorneys. We need people to put up a strong defense when people are arrested. As it I, way too many innocent people end up on death row or with long sentences. I think it’s incredibly important to remember that it’s innocent until proven guilty for a reason and that an accusation is not proof of guilt. Do I want actual murderers punished? Yes. The thing is though, it needs to be proved and the person defending the accused is doing a valuable service. The sheer vitriol heaped on this man’s head in that ad makes me not only want to vote for him, but makes me want to burn the name of his opponent into my memory so that I will never vote for him for anything. If he lacks even a small child’s understanding of why we need an adversarial justice system instead of sentencing people without trial, he’s clearly incompetent to hold any office at all.

Fuck you, Reagan Dunn!

* I'm taking it easy today, hoping it will help my crap immune system fight the virus. I'm basically sticking to fish maintenance and necessary house keeping. Tomorrow the plumber is coming.

* Gabriel Iglesias' show was so good first season, that I assumed it would get cancelled. I am ridiculously happy that they got a second season. It makes me terribly happy that Mr. Iglesias is doing well, but more than that, I love that he's using this opportunity to get exposure for excellent comics that are getting ignored by everyone else. I love hearing new voices instead of the same old, same old. I love how much fun they are all clearly having making the show. I very much hope that it keeps getting renewed.

* I am honestly happy to see Key and Peele get another season as well.

* Is anyone watching Copper? I can't decide if I like it or not. They are doing a whole bunch of interesting things, but I'm not sure how I feel about it.
