Sep. 24th, 2012 03:08 am* Revised casualty figures for the popular attacks on Islamist headquarters is now eleven. The protesters have turned over weapons, headquarters, and captured Islamists to the government, including one wanted in the murder of the US Ambassador.
* It's sounding like several of the protests being attributed to the YouTube video had/have little or nothing to do with the video while others do. No surprise that US news outlets are doing a crappy job of separating out the various things people are protesting. Most outlets also seem to be missing that in most places the vast majority of moderates are not involved, or the way that individual political conditions in the different countries play into the who, wheres, and whys of the protests, and that the folks protesting mostly live in countries where the State has controlled all means of expression for a generation or more so free expression is hard for folks to get their heads around. Sigh. I wish we still had a strong forth estate.

* So it's almost bed time last night. The cats and I are chilling. Suddenly there is a rhythmic sound like a thousand crickets coming from fish tank corner. Cats perk up, "Is that a predator, or tasty, tasty insects we can catch." Me, "Damnit, I knew that valve was damaged." Cue half an hour of me searching for a better valve and trying out various equipment combos, plus mopping up the back wash. I really need to lay in more spare valves and legs when I go to the fish store next.
