Dec. 28th, 2011 01:54 am* They held Kim Jong Il's funeral this evening.
* The Syrian government murdered another 39 unarmed civilians today.
* Iran is saying they will blockade the Strait of Hormuz in response to our Congressional mandated threats of sanctions intended to stop their Nuclear Weapons Program. I large portion of Gulf oil travels through there, so it cuts off the lion's portion of the world's fuel supply.
* How weird is it that Ron Paul, an actual Doctor, is against pasteurizing milk?
* Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich, who relentlessly mocked Ron Paul for disowning comments printed under his own name in his own newsletter and claiming he didn't know what was in there, is, you guessed it, disowning comments printed under his own name in his own newsletter and claiming he didn't know what was in there.
* I have to admit, I am enjoying the amused expression of news casters as they refer to Rick "frothy residue" Santorum's bubble. I just checked and his official site is now first instead of the frothy residue site, so it looks like time for more google bombing of "Santorum."
* The car being stolen meant me on achey arthritic legs hobbling through the rain to drop off my library books and Squirrel having no way to get to and from work, as bus service doesn't run that late/early. As the thieves are unlikely to know the car can't go more than a few blocks, odds are they burn out the engine, so even if we get it back, it's likely dead for good. Fuck. This just in: Squirrel thinks it was nearly out of gas, so there is some hope of it running dry and them abandoning it before burning out the motor.
* Marine Rob and I went out to a Pho place. Him for dinner, me for a delicious jackfruit smoothie, veggie rolls, and an excessively huge dessert. (They are otherwise mediocre, but the jackfruit smoothies are wonderful. Sometimes, they even have durian). It turns out he may have found an old friend of ours who some of you may remember, the red headed ex-infantry role player that used to be roommates with my soldier in Eugene. I very much hope it is him. (He hadn't heard back yet). He's one of my old Corvallis crew I'd very much like to see again.
