Apr. 15th, 2011 01:35 am* I find it incredibly offensive that Rick Santorum is using a Langston Hughes poem title for his anti-gay, anti-labour, anti-POC, pro class warfare against the working and middle class presidential campaign. Somehow, I'm thinking Mr. Hughes is spinning in his grave as his words are being used in the service of further decreasing fairness in America and furthering the Republican goal of rolling things back to the 1850's legally and socially.
Rick Santorum, you are no Langston Hughes.
* There are now 28 states trying to restrict women's civil rights and access to health care in the name of Christianity. Seven states are considering or have passed laws outlawing abortion. In Ohio, the plan is to make abortion illegal for anyone who has already missed their first period. Georgia is trying to effectively outlaw miscarriage, as women would have to prove it was a miscarriage. That many of these laws are plainly unconstitutional doesn't matter because there is reason to worry that Alito's court will overturn Roe vs. Wade if any one demands a legal challenge.
* I may have missed it, but I have not seen the Republicans retract their claims that Walgreens does public PAP smears. I keep thinking about this, because I've never seen naked women displaying their vaginas in a pharmacy. Since Republican law makers clearly believe this goes on all the time, I can only wonder what sort of Pharmacies they are frequenting.
* I think this is gorgeous: http://cdn04.cdn.gofugyourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/spl264229_013-419x624.jpg
* OMG! Anderson Cooper just did a whole bit on how he played D&D as a kid and other beloved geekery in response to China banning Time travel, Fantsy, and Sf from their TVs. That man just keeps getting sexier.
* There will be no mocking of Catherine Zeta Jones for getting treatment for her Bipolar Disorder in these pages. It is brave of her to be open about her illness, given the inappropriate stigma our society still levels. I'm glad she's getting help now, before it causes serious havoc in her life. I can only hope her boldness will help others to get help.

* The black cats spent yesterday evening cuddling me on the sofa. LM's been giving me space, but sidling up for cuddles when I look active to her. I slept for twelve hours, most of it underneath Hector and next to Mache. Tonight they are all pretty mellow, which is what I need, as I'm in no condition to deal with cat drama. The drugs they gave me are stronger than I need, so I'm improvising a little. I can use the mouse, but typing is laborious. The hardest thing is eating and preparing food. I wish I could afford take out.
