Things I like about the new apartment:

1. I feel a lot safer, as in, I don't expect a random break in, and if someone did break in, people could hear me scream.

2. I much prefer this neighborhood just generally, even though itis full of college students.

3. The leaves smell "right" in fall. Just trust me on this, the mix of trees make smells I find pleasing and comforting.

4. Landlords are johnny on the spot with plumbing and kitchen appliance issues. No letting us go a week without a flush toilet or making us fight for 6 months to two years over leaky plumbing.

5. Upstairs neighbors are very quiet. I can live with the rhythmic creak of fucking and the occasional dropped thing or loud footfall.

6. New carpeting and weirdly clean and good looking grouting in the bathroom.

7. Reasonable visual privacy.

8. No spores suffocating me in my sleep, and no bugs squeezing through the huge cracks around doors and windows.

Neutral things:
There is hardly any natural light in the apartment, except, I think Squirrel's room. I'm used to this from the last place I lived up until that guy ran over the bush. In my room, it is always either twilight dark or night dark, except for one random hour when it's like a kleig light. It's disorienting. I generally like my room dark, so it's not a problem per se, just an adjustment. I can get some natural light in the afternoon in the living room, if I open the blinds. I am disinclined to do this while we are still in chaos.

Negative things:
* The walls are painfully thin, as in, from my bedroom, I can hear everyone walking up and down the staircase, and/or talking with my window closed. I can not only here Squirrel bathing, but the Zachary Quinto clone upstairs bathing. This is not as sexy as you would imagine as the plumbing frequently wakes me up and I am unwilling to be woken for actual sex with actual cute guys, let alone just for the imagining.

* The security light is badly timed for northern winter nights so that one is fumbling for the key in the dark at 5 PM.

* Our parking spot is bumpy and full of puddles.

* The stairs. Way too many stairs. I nearly fell trying to get the forage inside Friday.

* It's really small. The bathroom and kitchen are tiny, and this is the smallest bedroom I've had since college dorms.

* Not enough counter, cabinet, drawer, and closet space.

* I still can't get use the main computer and the laptop at the same time, which is a pain in the ass.

* I can not have the phone in my room, which means careening wildly on legs that aren't really working, mostly blind through a dark room without my glasses and half asleep throgh a box maze with four cats trying to trip me.

The positives out weigh the negatives, trust me.

Good on ya! Mine is just now installing a light fixture so our kitchen has light - we moved in 2 months ago today.
