Oct. 27th, 2011 04:43 am* In Syria, there has been another round of violence against unarmed civilians including children.
* A number of cities violently cracked down on wall street protesters last night, with many arrests and some hospitalizations including at least one combat veteran in Oakland, who may or may not have permanent brain damage from a skull fracture. Let's hope they can get the swelling in his brain down. Rush Limbaugh would like to remind you that the protesters are mere "human debris," and FOX "news" would like to remind you that folks like the felled Iraq veteran are really anarchist commie Acorn Islamists hippies. (I am surprised they haven't accused them of being werewolves, as that would make as much sense). The CEO of Bank of America, a criminal enterprise that was a leader in the corporate movement to robo-forecloise on massive numbers of homes belonging to mere humans who didn't happen to owe them any money, has roundly condemned the protesters calling them ungrateful for all the things people like him have done for them. Of course. I mean, having your house stolen by a predatory corporation is an opportunity, right? His salary is 10 million a year.

How did the districts I worked for after my first year handle trans kids? The students were given a choice of using the restroom matching presentation or using a unisex staff toilet, depending on what felt safer to them. We used preferred names and pronouns and kept an eye out for harassment. The district which had been sued back when I was in teacher college over lesbian prom denial, didn't raise a peep when a trans man was voted prom king and it went off drama free. I'm not kidding about lawsuits changing school culture, folks.
* We've cleared the first bureaucratic hurdle towards moving. Now on to the second. Fingers crossed, folks. If we can pull this off, we'll be so much better off in the long run as the new situation will be healthier for my lungs and financially more sustainable.
* The cats are calming down after my absence. The senior beasties were monopolizing me, as I am their primary human. Since yesterday, the junior beasties are reasserting themselves in a bid for their rightful share iof the attention, which looks like normality to me. Hector's been sleeping and eating just fine, though he's still having flashbacks. There is no sign of escalation, and he's normal for him between episodes, so I'm keeping an eye on him, but not particularly worried.
* There were a few things I likely ought to have done today, but I needed the rest, and I needed the spoons to do a bunch of animal maintenance and prep for moving stuff. Assuming we are moving.
* I'm having some physical inconveniences, but I think it's due to med schedule disruption last week rather than a resurging pathogen. Let's hope anyway.
