* I have a wicked strong craving for a particular veggie burrito from a particularly hippy burrito place downtown. I've been avoiding it since I nearly always ate there with Skye. I haven't money to go just now anyway. It keeps nagging at me though. I'm likely missing some vitamin.
* Hector escaped during today's walk and it was a lot of work herding him back. The problem is, his instincts and innate stubbornness tell him he should go out, but he's terrified of the big blue room, with all it's strangeness, and all the scary sounds, and unpredictable movement. His terror makes him unpredictable and it spreads to the black cats making them unpredictable. Long practice shows the best thing to do is head him off and startle him back towards the door. eventually all the darting back and forth stresses him enough that he heads inside on his own. It's really hard on my joints, but still better than trying to grab him and wrestle him inside while he claws for freedom. Once inside he gets praises and pettins, on the grounds that punishing him once he's inside is exactly the wrong way to encourage him to go in on his own next time.
All three of them were tired out from running around, so it's been a quiet evening.
* Sparkindarkness talks about the bravery of those who participated in the outlawed Moscow Pride events: http://www.sparkindarkness.com/2011/05/moscow-pride-march.html
* Tomorrow's a routine doctor's appointment and a bunch of errands. Wednesday's yet another MRI, and even more errands. I need to remember to make an appointment to discuss Friday's blood work. (Three vials, a check on how the drug I started a few month's ago is doing, plus the usual checks to see if any of my meds are killing and of my key organs.) I should probably swim both days, though chances are I won't.
* Tomorrow Deadline, the sequel to the ground breaking and generally brilliant zombie political thriller Feed drops. Yay, Deadline!
* I really wish they'd make a Midnighter movie. mmmmm.... Midnighter.
* First stop on the Hollowstone virtual book tour, in which the author discusses "not only how Hollowstone became a reality, but writing marginalized characters, comic books and doing diversity right. http://jessfaraday.com/2011/05/30/an-interview-with-dennis-r-upkins/
* Another stop on the Hollostone Virtual book store, "Profound Media Lessons Learned By An Impressionable Mind:" http://karjack.livejournal.com/815899.html
* I still think the issue of Watchmen in which Jon leaves for mars is one of the most glorious poetic things every to appear in a graphic novel. The beautiful spiderweb of word and image, each iteration connected in different ways to evoke love, loss, time, alienation, heartbreak, and the terrible beauty of broken things, each new connection of meaning, like facets on a jewel.
Rorschach is the biggest fan favorite, but it's Jon I really "get."
Side note: Sometimes I wonder why, with all the lesbian and gay inclusion, all the super heroes were white (I'm not counting Jon as he was white before he was blue). I mean, they could imagine a gay male couple and a lesbian kicking ass, but not any POC, even though there were non-super hero folks of colour in the supporting cast.
