* I haven't the energy to explain the things going on in Uganda right now, but I think it's a place to be watching, rather like Syria is right now.

* I also haven't the energy to explain the latest round of Republicans to further interfere with people's civil rights and control over basic medical decisions. Suffice to say it's wildly depressing.

* I drove out to talk to the Optometrist' office today. We likely find out what happens with my glasses tomorrow. As I still haven't found my older pair and it could be weeks before I get it sorted if things go wrong tomorrow, I cut a small dowel in the hopes lashing that to the break will make this pair more wearable, but it only worked for a few hours. This was not a good month for me to have to try to raise money for glass.

* There's some really horrifying flooding along the Mississippi, and they don't even expect it to peak until next week. In some areas, they expect it may not recede until some time in June. This one is hitting the elderly particularly hard, I'm told.

Remember that the Red Cross can always use donations. Between the Tornado and the flooding, large portions of the south are pretty devastated. http://www.redcross.org/

* I think I've figured out what Hector's problem is lately. he's decided that Squirrel needs to live in the living room and never leave the house. he's been like this with me since we brought him home as a kitten. it freaks him out when he can't find me. I've been watching his behavior patterns, and he seems to be melting down around 1. Squirrel leaving the house. 2. sleeping in his room which is also LM's primary territory, so going in there to check on squirrel, glare at him while he sleeps, or howl him awake is right out. he'll be inconsolable for hours and squirrel will come home or wander out and give him a pettin and suddenly he's fine. My only hope is that he'll calm down about Squirrel after a while. after all, he eventually calmed down about me leaving the apartment. Eventually. Mostly.
