-"Who watches the watchers:" I'm pretty sure starting a Fundamentalist religious revival with the Captain as a God violates the prime directive, or as Captain Kirk would call it: Thursday.

-"The Bonding:" I love how Buddhist Data sounds here. I love the way each of the characters has a different reaction to loss, but I wish they'd done this for Tasha Yarr first season instead. I just want to say how excellent the acting of the main cast is in this episode, particularly Wil Wheaton and Michael Dorn, but really all them.

I am someone who often dreams of my dead. When the dream is framed as alternate history or where the dead person isn't pretending to be anything other than dead, I don't mind. When something turns up pretending to be alive when I KNOW that person is dead it creeps me the hell out in the dream. I have always preferred the often grim or dark truth to the fiction. I am like that with grief too. It's not that I don't miss my dead; I miss them constantly. It's just that i do not take comfort from ersatz people, if that makes sense. I have always felt that way about this episode. What the aliens are doing here makes my skin crawl.
