* There are hundreds still missing in Christchurch new Zealand in the wake of that Earthquake.

* Obama has ordered the Justice Department to stop defending DOMA. A little late, but much better than nothing. The Law remains in effect, obviously, but it will make it a lot easier to abolish through the court system.

* No, Fox "news," refusing to defend a law, but still endorsing it, does not mean Obama is exactly the same as Mubarak.

* No, FOX "news," Reformed rabbis are not the same as Islamists. I'm pretty sure that comparison will be offensive to both parties involved. Reformed rabbis are also not secular and there is no reason to think they don't have any faith in the actual religion.

* I completely failed to do any of the things I was meant to do today, but at least there was real sleep.

* Indiana Democratic Senators have fled to prevent Quorum on a law intended to strip collective bargaining rights for unions. Wisconsin democrats are still holding out. In Ohio, their aren't enough democrats to save collective bargaining rights, so I haven't much hope.

* Libya: Mercenaries are still attacking people in the streets.

* A lovely thing on the passing of Dwayne mcDuffie: http://uryel.tumblr.com/post/3464531714/tribute-dwayne-mcduffie

"And while I will miss his work, I’m even more determined now to fight in his honor (and that of Moore’s) and continue to produce conscious speculative works that celebrate marginalized peoples and shares our stories." - Neo_prodigy

* I have a rheumatologist appointment at 8 AM. Obviously, it's impossible to cancel at this point, so of course, it's snowed to the point Squirrel is worried about him getting his car out. They never plow our street, even when they plow all the others. This is pretty much the formula for me breaking a leg again. At the same time, one can't skip out on rheumatologists, especially not yet another new one, as they have so much power over people like me. *faceopalm*

* RM found, someone else talking about the same fan on fan bullying at Gally: http://dimlightarchive.com/?p=797

* Hector's had a busy evening: repeatedly changing the channel on the TV, turning off my computer, etc., in between more overt attempts to get me to go back to bed. Sigh. Birmins.
