* Hector Update: Really, all he wants is to be on or next to me and only seems distressed when he can't see me or feel me, so I try to be in conact as much as I can (some things need to be done without like bathroom and feeding fish. I've been carrying him wherever I can and settling him for pettins and naps wherever I need to be physically. We did a really long bath, which is one of his favorite things. He likes the heat and stretches out on the human island for cuddles, I felt like a monster lifting him out because he tried to get back in, but I really needed to get out. I keep thinking he's done, but he wakes up asking for pettins. Right now he's on the pouf beside me, where he spent most of yesterday. He's got Skye's old blanket with the texture he likes, my leg to cuddle, and loves whenever he wakes. That's really most of what he's wanted since the stroke cascade started about three weeks ago. I really would have taken him if he seemed more distressed by his state, but the worst of that was over by about Midnight between Saturday and Sunday. It is horrible. All of it, but I would rather he die in one of his favorite napping spots with his personal human right there then in terror at the humane society surrounded by strangers after a long terrifying car ride.
LM has been an angel throughout for all her history as an asshole cat. Once he started to have strokes, she immediately stopped dominance games. she's been so sweet and patient with his confusion and occasional aggression. Should startle hiss if his accidentally jumps where she is or leaps over her, but she hasn't laid a paw on him in months even when provoked. In this last crisis she comes for her me pettins when he's not with me temporarily. She does want reassurance, but she's careful to give him space. She's been peaceably sharing spaces like sofa and bed with him. She was good when Mache was dying too, but she's really gone above and beyond and I'm really proud of her for how far she's come.
