* Flint, Michigan: Republican Paradise: You know what would have been way cheaper than destroying the entire water infrastructure, poisoning a city, and causing a generation of children serious developmental damage to save money? Not doing that. This is what unfettered Republican rule looks like folks: overthrowing democracy, doing massive damage to people, destroying a city physically and economically thus rendering it essentially unlivable all in the name of some negligible short term savings far out weighed by the expense of the damage they did. This is not “fiscally conservative.” This is a radical waste of money, destruction of businesses and property values, and long term permanent damage to people who will now require a lifetime of care at taxpayer expense done for no discernible reason except they had the power to do it and wanted to.

* His description of his experience inventing his first language? That is so relatable. The language I invented in middle school was basically English vocab transcribed into new morphemes with Latinate grammar and a cuneiform inspired script. I abandoned it for pretty much the same reason he abandoned his. "David J. Peterson - Dothraki and "The Art of Language Invention":"

* Wednesday I actually did all the needful things. Thursday was podcast and I got through what is very likely one of the hardest sessions we will ever do. (I can think of one other potential topic as tough). Next one I have a handful of things I’m responsible for, but most of it is in the wheelhouse of my collaborators, so I’m not nearly as responsible. The topic after is going to be fun as a sort of reward for all this grimness. Friday’s agenda is bureaucracy and cleaning. I did so much cleaning this week, but more appears while I sleep.
