* I have never been a nail polish person, even back at the dawn of Gothdom when I did daily jewelry and full make up. I always had to work for a living and nail polish is for people who aren't forever washing things for other people (Dishes, tables, machines), and doing heavy lifting and other work. I did used to let my sister paint pattern on my toe nails when I was home in the time between her failing ill up until I moved away West. She did her own and all her friends and liked doing them, so I would let her adorn my feet with stripes and polka dots or whatever.

Anyway, I had this random craving for glittery gothy nails and I have a friend with lots of Gothy colours in metallics and glitter shades, so Thursday evening we covered my nails with a rich metallic that is green in white light and a lovely greenish blue in my bedroom or living room. It made me strangely happy. I meant to take a picture but my the time I tried Friday evening I had a massive gash across my right index fingers and all the tips were chipping.

I have had a fascinating time watching them deteriorate under the strain of heavy typing over the marathon rp sessions. I could actually see pretty little chips flying off, like glitter. They were gorgeous shiny and new and the piebald aspect of the most used fingers is not attractive, but I admit blueish green glitter flying from my fingers was delightful. The process of ruin has it's one sort of beauty, which aesthetic is the essence of goth in itself.

* Today were assorted errands, made more complicated by some massive thing going on involving multiple police, a fire trucks and paramedics, blocking the route into downtown from where I live without warning, just after a bend in the road. All they had was one lane coming out of downtown and it was too late to take an alternate route. There was nothing for it but to take early rush hour clogged one and a half laned back streets to the interstate, which meant way more gas and a much longer post office line to send out an ebay, and me still needing to get into downtown, only from the north east instead of south. Things got done, though I spent more precious dollars than I can afford. One the upside the tofurkeys were back in stock and cheaper than expected which meant I could buy gravy and cheese as well. Score! Still in pain. Still no TV, but at least I managed something.

In other news, Hector actually went to Narnia today. See, he's onlt ever lived places where there is one door to the terror and exciting smells of outside, and all the other doors are to parts of our clowder's den (rooms, closets). About a week after we move, the cats discovered there was another, mysterious doors the humans used occasionally in the back of the apartment leading to places unknown, henceus calling the door to the hallway that leads to the mailboxes "the Narnia door." The cats look upon this door with the sort of horrified curiosity generally experienced by characters in a Lovecraft story. LM, being much the bolder went out of it with Squirrel one time early on and was terrified by what likely seemed to her to be endless, nightmarish corridors, an experience she has avoided ever since. Today, when I was bringing in a Gothmas package from my Sister and had my hands also full with stuff going to the car he went out the Narnia door. I could have dropped everything and stopped him, but I didn't bother. It's all closed off and there is nothing cats want in there, so I waited a couple minutes, him having not gotten further away than the next neighbor's door, until the unseen elevator dinged around the corner, full of people talking loudly, one pretty clearly with a dog and he darted back home in terror, where I told him he was a good boy and shut him back in.

Silly beast.

Not at all a silly beast… just curious and cat-cautious.

(I solve that particular problem as early as possible with all my cats - leave the forbidden door open just a crack and sit in wait with a squirt-bottle - I make sure they know Outside is a scary and nasty place!)

I always just sucked at applying nail polish (though the Crimson Peak colors from BPTP have made me try again. still suck, but my nails are shimmery gold so I don't care so much.)

That said, when I come up in January, I'll bring my jamberry and espionage cosmetics nail things up and we can do some test nails on you. (Being stickers, they don't chip, though they sometimes tear/cut, and you get pretty patterns without having to be good at applying nail polish.)

Singing went very well despite my having a horrible, horrible cold. (Fortunately my voice held out through the concerts, though I did both of them with my ears plugged up badly enough that it was a very strange experience. We actually did two duplicate concerts of our Christmas concert this year.)

Bells have gone pretty well. I'm actually in a second bell choir now because I'm crazy. (The second bell choir is much harder than church bell choir. I'm down towards the bottom of ability in it, some of the others are scary good.) Our own concert went well. This coming weekend we're playing with the Los Angeles Gay Men's Chorus at their holiday concert.

The cold sucks, but still being able to sing and the two bell choir things is glorious.

I am really excited for your playing with the gay Men's chorus. Do let me know if it goes up on youtube.
