* The tone irritates, but this is pretty accurate to the current state of debate "5 Ancient Discoveries That Prove Modern Men Are Sexist:" http://www.cracked.com/article_22142_5-badass-facts-about-women-that-history-books-leave-out.html

* I got crap for sleep between beeping construction equipment, my lungs, and Hector. (I've been rationing lung meds again which works great right up until it doesn't). So instead of doing an ebay batch as was my plan, I ended up reading a third of the book, then watching too much House of Cards. I didn't finish, but I'm down to the last couple.

* House of Cards Season Two: Musings in no Particular Order

1. Francis Underwood looks like an evil koala to me. There, I said it. I thought it early on this season and now can't unthink it. There is a particular face he makes that ought to have a eucalyptus leave hanging out the side of his mouth.

2. The Look Frank gives the camera at the beginning of the civil War reenactment episode was the one I was making at home in bed.

3. I wish they had made Connor and Seth look ess like each other, as I had a hard time following that story line until it was almost over as I am also bad at names.

4. Remy is hot. It just needed to be said. He's also really good at this game. There was a scene with the Whip where I actually said, "Well played!" out loud. I can see why Frank liked him.

5. I have spent all season waiting for a Frank/Claire/Meecham threesome. There was a whole scene not long after the porn catch where Frank is talking to Meecham with a beer like a big erection sticking out of his crotch, and oh the three way flirting.

6. I feel bad for Adam, but so much worse for Freddy.

7. I am waiting to see which way Freddy, Douglas, and Remy all jump. I do not think we have seen the last of freddy and I think he is capable of terrible things when angered.

8. That thing where Francis keeps negging Douglas horrifies and fascinates me. I think it is a terrible idea and I think Francis is lying to himself about it being simply tactical.

9. That scene with claire and the other McGinnis rape survivor. Ouch.

10. I think it is interesting the way this season does and doesn't talk about race. They are overt in some of things with the Native Americans, but there is and always has been a racial dynamic to the Freddy and Frank scenes, and it had me watching the scenes with Feng closely and the passage with Douglas in China particularly closely. Then there is the whole civil War reenactment with the racial aspect carefully sanitized out and the model painting of the battle becoming thematic. I think a person could write a thesis about was is said out right (like the Andrew Jackson Painting), what is implied (for example: Freddy the cook trotted out to meet the President and all the baggage that dynamic carries with it), what is deliberately not said (The whole slavery part of the civil war or what it means about frank that the Andrew Jackson picture goes right back up), and the things that are structural within the show's design (like the Asian stereotype sex workers or Freddy's son's story line). I am still digesting and likely that paper is for someone cleverer than me to write.

11. Douglas is so fucking creepy. He essentially promised Rachel he would "rescue" her, then controls every aspect of her life, keeping her a sort of prisoner, repeatedly violates her personal space and boundaries, breaks into her apartment to scare her and/or sniff her linens. Eeeew! This sort of thing generally ends in sexual assault and murder. I am rather expecting it to in this show as well, the same way I saw the Zoe/Frank meet set up and thought "This is what a serial killer would do."
