gwydion* Gov. Bentley is now claiming his exclusionary comments were not meant to really suggest disenfranchising all non-Baptists. Right. Guess which party he belongs to. Go on.
* I hung out with Joy and then we went to a new Cajun restaurant down town. I've always thought cajun cooking smelled fascinating, but I've never had any vegetarian options offers, so was never able to try it. I had excellent fritters, which might have been slightly better with a touch more sauce, but were utterly pleasing. The vegetarian gumbo was warm, spicy, filling, and had pleasing textures. I do wish they offered a spicier version, but this was delightful enough. So often, people assume vegetarians like their food bland, but in my experience there's as much variation among us as there are among omnivores. As a result, I collect places that make safe, strongly flavored vegetarian food. This restaurant is now on the list, and my quibbles are tiny. It was good to see Joy again after such a long absence.
* There is some talk of tibicina and blackdjinn coming up next week, but no firm plans.
* I know there are multiple people with gluten issues who read this thread, so I'm passing on this gluten and yeast free pizza crust recipe as it worked really well for crotalus_atrox. * How exactly does Congresswoman Bachman think one can "repeal the President." I am fascinated to find out.
* If wearing red makes Michelle Obama a communist, why was there no complaint back when Nancy Reagan wore red most of the time? Why was there no similar outcry over red ties on Republican candidates in the last Presidential election? If wearing red now = communist, doesn't that mean the American flag represents communism, as it has red on it? Doesn't that mean all Republicans are Communists as the election maps use red to stand for Republican victories? Why the fuck is it a reasonable response to the president's wife looking stunning in a red dress to start screaming that this proves she's a Communist.
* Yes, Rush Limbaugh said something wildly racist. In other news, rain is wet, snow is cold, and there are bears shitting in the woods. Given the other racist things he's said and the complete lackk of impact on his career, I'm doubting anything will change.
* Governor Brewer of Idaho has called for another 35 million to be cut from the Arizona mental health budget, along with dumping a huge number of people off medicaid. After all, what could go wrong besides people needlessly dieing, becoming homeless, etc.?
