* Getting out to the doctor today was quite the adventure. not only was there the scary hobble across ice, but the driving the fishtailing car backwards all the way down the hill. I got cat meds while I was out.

* The cats are really upset, as they have been dosed for fleas. Poor LM couldn't figure out what room to hide in, so ended up dashing back and forth between the bedrooms in her panicked indecision.

* I'm official for Orycon next year. (All paid up). Getting the handicapped room and going a day early makes all the difference, really.

* People are saying that the Tuscon massacre wouldn't have happened if everyone in the crowd had a concealed firearm. Really? Firing into a panicky, flailing crowd in the hopes of hitting the shooter is supposed to be a good thing? It's as if they never heard the study of police shoot outs that showed accuracy scores on the firing were no predictor of whether or not they'd hit the suspect in a feild situation. This is because adrenalin messes with one's fine muscle coordination and one generally isn't in a fire fight in a non adrenalin state. (This does not apply to snipers, who are at a distance from the action and can take their time). What are the odds of civilians in a panic hitting each other in a situation like last Saturday's massacre instead of or in addition to the gun man? I'm guessing pretty high. Having every one in a crowd armed is pretty fucking scary to my way of thinking.

* I wish Daniel Hernandez well in all his future endeavors.

* Kudos to Col. Badger and the other heroes who took action to stop the Tuscon shooter.

* The Tea Party Express is using the Tuscon Massacre as a fund raising opportunity. Classy.
