* I had an early morning Doctor's thing, so I stayed up for it. After, I did grocery shopping, which was lucky, as on my return, I spotted workmen assaulting the corner of my building. I had hoped they wouldn't start on us until they were further along on the other buildings they'd already started, but no. I asked if they wanted us to move the plants inside. They said it would be okay to move them to the outside bits lining the paths, but away from the walls. Squirrel was up as he needed to do bureaucracy, so he did most of the lifting. We moved the outdoor furniture inside, which is a mess and very crowded. Most of the plants get to stay outside which helps. Two years ago everything mostly died when we were forced to bring them in. Of course, I managed to knock over a syrup bottle and get glass in my feet while trying to put away the groceries. Right now they are mostly working on B building, and A, where they defaced the ground floor the way they are with ours has their plants out again. It's looking like the issue is one crew is doing scaffold work on B, while they prep the ground floor on A and C by peeling off all the crappy rock face. This means I have hopes of the plants getting to stay out for the rest of the growing season.
Eight months! Another eight months of external renovations and related drama.
So I ate my bialys and fought off Hector while watching Knightriders on the sofa. Romero's Knightriders is visual comfort food to me.
Did I mention I found out the coop now has fresh baked Bialys? They are not as good as the ones Jeremiah and I used to eat in DC, but so, so good.
* I've already given up on Intruders. I just can't bring myself to care about the characters.
* I think the Strain is improving. I think it helps that the characters I actually like and care about, Vasiliy and Abraham, are finally teamed up and this episode was one reasonably well paced story instead of lots of jumping around. I still have serious concerns about the racial stereotyping. Still, the show is finally coming together.
* It turns out I had seen Barry Lyndon before, when I was a child. Oddly enough, the only thing that stuck with me from that early watching was the strangely passionless naked gay men standing in a river arguing about a trip to Bremen.
