* Sierra Leone is doing house to house searches for hidden infected. Various countries are deciding on quarantine measures, but it's unclear how well that's going to work. Two American infected are being shipped to an isolation ward. (It sounds like the facility is appropriate as far as measures against spread and quality of care. There is no cure for ebola, but quality supportive care can help people survive. They are also trying out a variety of experimental treatments) Y'all know me. I'm a live long plague watcher. I know there are likely to be hysterics over this, but I'm okay with it. If they can find an effective treatment it could potentially save a whole lot of lives (Currently 90% death rate for infected), the people doing this are the right sort of careful, and the quality of treatment will be higher for the patients.

* Russia has decided to require all bloggers with 3000 readers or more to register with the government for licensing and presumably censorship and reprisals. The law is vague enough that nearly everyone can be randomly hosed.

* Eric Garner's death has been ruled a homicide as he wouldn't have died without the Police deciding to choke him to death. In case you've forgotten, the police killed him for complaining about his thirtieth stop in the course of a couple of years, as the police feel an unarmed man voicing a reasonable complaint is a good reason to use deadly force if the man complaining is black.

I think that instead of sending things via balloon, more should be done to smuggle goods into North Korea. It would be more effective.

It's likely done this way for propaganda/pissing off Kim jung Un purposes rather than aiming for effectiveness.
