Today I watched the Normal Heart.

I have cracked open a bottle of Drambuie and I intend to drink quite a bit of it.

I thought I was cried out long before I got to "The Only Little Boy in New York."

I was so fucking wrong.

No, I'm not ready to talk about it.

Before I left, some young friends asked me about watching it here. I said they were welcome to, but I needed to watch it alone first. I was right about that. I am going to save it, and they may watch it here if they want. I don't think I can watch it with them or be here when they do. I'm not sure I can watch it with anybody.

I'm not ready to talk about it. I'm definitely not going to talk right now about the complex things behind it or the complicated ways I feel about Larry Kramer even after all this time.

I'm just going to go now and light some candles for the dead and drink some more Drambuie.

I don't blame you at all. I really do want people to see this. It's fucking important. It's just something I'm still too angry and raw about to do with an audience, even an audience consisting of a couple of younger folks from our community.
