* It was at this stage in the proceedings last night that the lap top ceased to function. Yet another expense I did not need now I am so close to the wire.
I stayed up half the night petting Mache, because she didn't seem to be able to eat and I honestly though I would have to take her in Monday, but in the morning she managed two treats and most of her share of morning goosh. She's a valiant soul, my Mache cat. It takes her ages to eat and she needs to rest periodically. Hector came to steal hers when she was only bhalf done. She gave him a Look and raised her paw threateningly and he backed off. She starting to act sick and she's nearly always tired, by she is still Queen and is not putting up with his nonsense. She's figured out I can't fix her, I think, and is mostly wanting cuddles.
The movers were as cheap as promised, which was a huge relief given how expensive this lap top turned out to be. For an extra $50.00 they hauled off most of Squirrel's furniture and my defunct table to the dump. (He's taking my old bed, TV Stand, one of the grad school bookshelves, and a card table, while putting his book shelf out in the living room for all the game books. He also is keeping his chest of drawers and some small stuff). My furniture is piled everywhere and it is chaos. I know where things go, but it's boxes and furniture tetris to make the things in the boxes go places to free up space for furniture to free up space for more things in boxes, etc..
After I'd sent the nice men off to the dump (Seriously, if you are in Bellingham area and want moving or haulage, I heartily recommend these guys. They are cheap, fast, and non-judgemental), I picked up sealant at Ace in the hopes of fixing the only thing about the irritating bathtub that might reasonably be in my power to fix. I tried to turn in some paperwork for Squirrel, but they closed at three, then it was off to find a computer. This took about 2 1/2 hours as the one on sale I'd come to look at at the first store was too much for me and next store, I could get a discount display model with a much larger screen. It took most of two hours to wipe and reload it to factory settings. It has Windows 8 which I hate like burning and thee is all this irritating visual spam in the form of apps I don't want an d features that seem more like bugs. It was a couple more hours of futzing to get it useable what with all the asshole impertinent Microsoft data mining for personal information about me they don't need including requiring me to give them a binary gender (Why exactly do they need that in formation I wonder?), and registering and activating, the setting up of antiviruises, and the downloading of key software such as decent browser options.
The cats are ridiculously happy to see their sofa, and all insisted on sitting on it with Squirrel and I as he tried to get my Internet up and the mouse working. I'm using a makeshift workspace on the sofa until I can set up a proper one, but the dashing about with the movers and the cumputer thing has mostly done me in.
If I was slow or am slow to answer key email between last night and today, this is why. I will try to get to everything that looks urgent before bed.
Sunday game is cancelled.
