Oct. 12th, 2013 09:26 pm* Remember how Republicans claimed the polls were all skewed and that really Mitt Romney was well ahead of Obama and how that worked out for them? Ted Cruz is using the same arguments to "prove" a majority Americans approve of the Shutdown since the polls are "skewed."
* This Congress is polling less popular than Gingrich's Contract on America Congress, the previous historic low.
* Republicans are now insisting the massive amount of economic chaos and human misery they are causing by shutting down the government is necessary because we need to repeal a 2.7% tax on the ridiculously high profits medical device manufacturers make. That is the current demand and the only ideological point they are making beyond incoherent demands that they should get something out of this just in general even they don't know what. They are doing all these horrible things for a tiny corporate special interest.
* The Salmonella outbreak continues and it's proving anti-biotic resistant. Isn't a good thing the republicans sent hom most of the workers at the CDC? I mean, if they hadn't, they could be running tests and fighting the illness. 317 people are sick already. How many people need to get sick before the Republicans end their pointless tantrum?

* Glee 4.17-18:
Guilty Pleasures: Aptly named. I am very grateful they didn't choose the terrible "Father Figure" Wham song, which I hated like scabbies when it was new. Someone else did a cool thing on parallelism between Blaine and Sam's crush conversation and the Kurt and Finn version. I can think of nothing cleverer than that to say, beyond repeating my joy in how grown up Sam has been in all areas not involving end of the world scenarios. I'm glad that Brody got to say his side and Rachel got to make her own decisions.
Shooting Star: I can't write anything about this except to say that this is the noblest thing Sue has ever done.
