Oct. 9th, 2013 01:16 am* Due to the situation in Egypt, we are cutting off military aid. The reasons should be obvious, but it also means no one knows what happens next as far as Egypt and Israel.
* In Nebraska, the government is forcing an abused 16 year old girl to stay pregnant against her will. She was denied an abortion on the grounds that because she is a high school student in foster care who can't support herself, let alone a child, it is obvious she should be forced to have one. I have no fucking words.
* Rachel Maddow's coverage of Nebraska forcing the abused teen to carry to term against her will:
* According to Authorities, Kendrick Johnson's death by blunt force trauma and him turning up rolled in a wrestling mat near some bloody shoes belonging to someone else was clearly an accident, so they didn't bother properly testing the shoes or following up on the blood on the wall, which didn't belong to the victim. They insist he bludgeoned himself to death before rolling himself in a mat, so there was no point in properly investigating, nor did they wear shoe protectors or take other precautions not to contaminate the scene. They insist that despite all appearances, this is somehow not a cover up. Is anyone surprised the family disputes that. It happened in Georgia. Guess what color Kendrick Johnson is. Go on. Bet you guessed it in one.
Another young man murdered and the police continue to do nothing.
* Debt Ceiling Denial:
* Wallstreet big wigs continue to come out against the Republican plan to shave at least 4.2% off the GDP in an effort to cause a world economic crash and long term instability next week, even though these are exactly the policies they funded when they bought all those elections.
Republicans continue to argue that refusing to honor the debts the government incurred is a good idea because the negative effects are based on objective reality and therefore should not be taken into account when making policy.
* To my delight, Ms. Yellen is to be nominated for Federal Reserve System Chairperson. This is the most positive financial news I've heard since before the Deregulation caused financial crisis. *fingers crossed she makes it through confirmation* We could use someone in charge of the Fed who cares about the health of the whole economy instead of padding the Cayman accounts of the 1%.
Best of luck to Janet Yellen. We could use a little hope in the gloom of all this self created crisis.

* This is the bet analogy for the Republican stance in the government shutdown I've seen:
* I managed to seriously mess myself up last night trying to take a bath. I didn't fall. I managed to strain most of the muscles on the right side of my torso sitting still Monday. I did still manage to run the corn maze unit of my Harvest Fair Event on the sandbox Muh where I still play. They fought the Pumpkin King.
* Glee, 4.8-Part of 9:
Miscelleny: I think the theory that Blaine is singing "Beauty School Dropout" to himself is the only one that fits. I think it's unnerving because he's trying to wear the prep school facade like a mask and it keeps slipping showing the wounds underneath.
Thanksgiving: The Homeward Bound mash-up gave me chills, because watching Finn's face smile wile his eyes were sad made the whole thing feel like goodbye in a way that couldn't possibly intended. As is often case, for me, a year later, the death of Mr. Montieth hovers in a way that couldn't have been foreseen. I like the way the New York feels like found family, like separation, like moving into adulthood. The phone call nearly made me weep. I don't think I ever loved Santana as intensely as I did when she confronted Quinn about Kitty. You can really see the adult she's becoming there and I really, really like that Santana. I want to see Jake dance. I want to see Jake dance a lot. I want to see him dance alone. I want to see him dance with Mike and Brittany at least once, all out, without distractions. I think Jake and Ryder are a mirror for Kurt, and that Marley's story mirrors Blaine's. I am going to stop there, I think. I foresaw Marley's faint, but not Sue's complete triumph. Surprise is rare for me with stories and I savor it.
Swan Song (Cut just before Rachel Goes in to the competition): "Lesbian Blogger Community!!!" Forth wall? What forth wall? I am fascinated by the way Sam seems to get both Brittany and Blaine, and it raises a whole lot of questions for me. I am curious to see how Sam and Brittany will work together. Or Not. Sam's been the only adult in the room except Bieste so far this season on the Lima side so I'm waiting for the clay feet or the other shoe to drop. No one is ever this consistently good in Glee except Burt Hummel. I think Brody is a lesson for Rachel. I like how he turns it so you can see his perspective as well as hers. Like the choice he made or not, his perspective is as valid as hers. I don't think she's used to seeing herself that way. NYADA is definitely all kinds of educational especially when it hurts and that goes for Kurt's conversation with Thibideaux. Was it Unique who said that thing about the Price for following your passion. Watching this season I keep thinking of the Red Shoes, mostly for Unique, Marley, Kurt, and Rachel, but just generally really. Kurt is still dancing at the Ball, but Rachel's feet have been bleeding for some time.
