gwydion* (TW) I'm linking Richard Engel talking about chemical warfare in Syria as I have huge trust and respect for him:
* Russia has told the IOC that they are not discriminating against gay people since they plan to arrest any straight people wearing rainbow pins too. The IOC agrees that Russia is not discriminating so there is no problem with Russia's anti-gay laws. I am struggling for a response that isn't made entirely of obscenities and failing.

For the record, my Mother chose not to pursue a transplant, which medicare would have covered on the grounds that someone in their twenties or thirties with cf or cf carrier and a long life ahead of them if they got treatment ought to have it instead of her. She died for this belief and I admire her sticking to her convictions.

* The army has announced that they are going to continue to deny trans woman Chelsea Manning hormone treatment during her imprisonment.
I've been consistently irritated by the news media, with the exception of Melissa Harris-Perry and the gay press, insisting on using male pronouns for her. The army had stolen so much of her dignity, including making her beg for individual squares of toilette paper. It seems to me the media could have afforded her the last dignity left in the form of using the correct pronouns when referring to her. Let's hope that will improve now.
