Aug. 8th, 2013 11:39 pm* The local government in a part of Hungary decided to shut down water to a Roma community to "prevent waste" for five days in the middle of a heat wave. They claim they weren't trying to kill or drive off the Roma Riiiiight. This is me giving them the side eye. The National government has stepped in to restore the water, luckily.
* It looks like the Egyptian military is cracking down on protests. This is going terribly wrong as I suspected it would when the military stepped in.
* Rail disaster updates: The Compostella accident really does look to be human error, in that the driver was on the phone and failed to decelerate due to the resulting distraction. The company who's train burned that town in Quebec is declaring bankruptcy. Want to bet it's to avoid liability?
* So it looks like Republican presidential endorsements were for sale in Iowa and the guy who brokered the bribes now works for Mitch McConnell:
