gwydion* The Syrian Civil War is spilling over into Lebanon with escalating violence there. They are debating sending arms to the Syrian rebels in the UN. Someone in Lebanon shot a rocket into Israel, presumably in an attempt to provoke them.

Bonus points for using the bible to justify starving people. What would Jesus do? Take money the working poor need to eat and give it to the rich apparently. Seriously, the Republican argument is that Jesus was vehemently against feeding children and the working poor because they don't work, so in Jesus's name, our government should let them all starve. I do not understand what jobs they expect kindergarteners for example, to get, and I think that working forty hours a week at minimum wage is a lot more work than being a Congressmen, but this is what they are arguing. Oh and there is also a plan to deny the children of ex-felons food stamps. Whether this plan to punish the children because of the sins of the fathers is also being justified from religious reasons or not, I don't know, but I do not see how watching one's children starve is going to encourage people not to reoffend to feed them. What happened to forgiveness and redemption?
Christians, seriously, these are the people representing your faith in public and this is what they are explicitly doing in your name. Please, please, call them on it. If you are against starvation for children, write your congress people, and if your rep is a Republican claiming to be christian, please call them out.
