gwydion* The truce between Gaza and Israel has broken. People are firing rockets into Israel and Israel has responded with air strikes.
* It looks like North Korea is shutting down the joint factory program with South Korea as part of the saber rattling. Thus the Southern workers are being stopped at the border.
* I was asked elsewhere to express an opinion on the Israeli/Palestinian Conflict. I am pretty sure anything I say will infuriate people, but here goes.
I honestly think the only reasonable chance for peace is the two state solution. However there is no chance of that while right wing assholes like Benjamin Netanyahu are accelerating the illegal settlements and generally refusing to negotiate. People are going to keep dying without a proper agreement. Honestly the current hardline attitude on the Israeli side is against their own long term interests. Trust me, I get the historical pressures that got us here. I’ve been watching this conflict my whole life and have read about what went before. I do not absolve my own government for playing politics in ways that make things worse instead of better much of the time. (I exclude Mr. Carter here, as I think he’s made honest efforts to try to improve things over the decades). I think our last election is a particularly ugly example of ways that certain US politicians try to make things worse there to gain points over here. It disgusts me. Real people are being injured and killed. It’s not a game.
It needs to stop for everyone’s best interests and I despair of logic and compassion prevailing.

* The NRA are such extreme cowards that they need a group of armed men to threaten unarmed reporters at the National Press Club and to threaten wirh assault rifles unarmed Mothers protesting the murder of their children.
* We still have no idea how to clean up the existing tar sands spills, yet the Republicans still want to endanger the entire Mississippi River and all the farmland that depends on it with a new massive pipeline.
