gwydion* There is a general strike on in Tunisia and more protests are expected as well. They bury Chokri Belaid today.
* Nine people have been shot for giving out polio vaccinations in Nigeria, probably by extremists. I'm wondering if it's connected to similar murders in Pakistan by Fundamentalists.
* As Austerity has been so disastrous for the individual European economies, the EU is now planning to dramatically cut the EU budget, presumably in hopes of further damaging the economy of the region. Why further slowing economic activity in the middle of a multi-dip recession is considered a good idea has not be properly explained to me. Still they are determined to go ahead with it. Meanwhile, here in the USA, Republicans are flirting with cutting back our GNP by 1-2% because they haven't done enough damage to our economy yet and we are in danger of clawing our way out of danger. They have no rational explanation for why that makes sense either.
