gwydion* The French are sending more troops into Mali. The West African force were starting to arrive as I wrote this. We've stepped up with more transport and supply support to the mixed force. A number of European powers including Great Britain and Denmark are also providing logistical support. In case I haven't made it clear, the government of Mali asked for intervention and countries with an interest in the region are responding. Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Chad, in particular have strong reasons to worry about the insurgency destabilizing them. Algeria's interest is just as obvious and are being very accommodating to transport.
* The Algerian Army raided the kidnappers this morning. Some were rescued, but they weren't wholly successful: some are still being held, and some hostages were killed.
