Dec. 20th, 2012 04:03 am* A ninth health worker has died of a gun shot wound to the head for trying to fight the polio epidemic in Pakistan.
* In India, the protests against endemic violence against women are spreading to other cities. They are demanding not only justice for the latest victim, bu a reform of the justice system and an end to police ignoring sexual harassment, sexual assault, etc.. I wish them all luck. It's an important cause.
* The US and the Netherlands are deploying patriot missiles to protect Turkey, what with Syria periodically shooting over the border and deploying SCUD missiles against Syrian civilians. Meanwhile, Putin is calling for talks between Assad and the Opposition and has acknowledged a need for change in Syria.

And people ask me why I hate Philadelphia so much that I only go back for Weddings, hospitalizations, and Funerals. It's her I think of every time I say, "I don't feel safe there."
