I don't know where you live, so I can't link this for you, but I find the Progressive Voter Guide online very helpful in narrowing down candidates in the often packed primaries where I live.
I also suggest looking at things like volunteer work and endorsements, because it really, really helps with things like sheriff and judicial elections, but can be useful in all sorts of primaries when you have multiple good options.
REMEMBER: Don't just vote for the big things like US Congress. Vote in every State and local race down to the smallest and on all the referendums.

My state didn't restrict EBT, but there was an extra supplementary card for elderly and disabled folks you could only use for "healthy" foods. But unlike SNAP/EBT you couldn't use it at farmer's markets or to buy seeds or food plant starts. It was incredibly arbitrary, and wouldn't tell you if something was covered or not, so you'd go to buy food and discover that while bread and burger buns are "healthy," bagels aren't. You couldn't combine with EBT, so you'd end up buying the randomly disallowed things out of pocket and sucks to be you if you didn't have cash.
Somehow a lot of things I'd class as "healthy" like corn tortillas weren't. I can't prove that white bread and buns being "healthy" but bagels and tortillas being classed "unhealthy" was racial bias, but I side eyed it every fucking time.
The question of who decides what is and isn't "healthy." is one I take very seriously, because I've seen how it works in practice.
Making people play a guessing game like that is cruel and helps no one. It's about Republicans punishing the poor and disabled. Fuck that. I'm an adult and I know what I can and can't eat better than some random person who's never met me.
They got rid of the "Healthy/Unhealthy" bullshit categorization for 2026, so I can have my bagels and tortillas in piece, but it was stressful using the benefit before and I remain angry about it.

We spent billions of dollars setting up 13 Ebola facilities with specially trained staff after last time, but are choosing instead to force Kenya to let us send American ebola patients to a military base without the right range of equipment and without staff specially trained in ebola against both medical advice and the strenuous objections of the Kenyan government and the people therein.
The cruelty and the arrogance of our behavior is infuriating.

* Monday: Cat adjustment continues apace. So Livia has a long standing habit of settling in my bed when she hears me returning to bed from a bathroom trip. she's been doing this for 7ish years, but she stopped because the bed was full of kittens. See, Saffy had the same idea about a week ago and her sister also usually comes along. Today Livia decided she's taking her mid day loves back.
As the kittens like to follow me to the bathroom, Livia, strategically placed on her padded bedroom window podium has a serious strategic advantage. My the time the kittens got there she was on her closet pillow getting her head scritches on. Clawdia stopped short about a foot from Livia, who didn't even give a warning growl. When Saffy turned up a few minutes later, claw Claw moved over and the three of them sat looking at each other all in paws reach with no trouble.
It happened a second time when I woke up for real, but this time poor Saffy did a blind leap from the side and landed right next to Livia, startling her into a hiss, but Saffy sat om my head pillow for a pet for a bit, then walked between Livia, fur brushing hers, to sit near her sister. She kept hitting Livia's head with her tail during her pet and Livia just sat there enjoying her own.
Saffy and Livia spend a big chuck of every evening and night sleeping a couple feet from each other and just generally vibing, but this is a new level of Livia being comfortable with her, and Clawdia sitting a foot away with no Saffy and no drama is a big step for them.
* So I don't know if I've mentioned, but I've been sick for more than two and a half months. It's not COVID. I think a cold hit around when the pollen started up here and it's been an incredibly bed pollen year. So I'm dealing with that and my assorted chronic illnesses and it frequently being too hot, which sounds like not a real problem, but I very likely had heat stroke in the summer of '87 (I've written about this alot) that was never treated and have had heat exhaustion a bunch of times since. I just don't function well in the heat, and it makes pollen worse (this is a very wet environment) and thus my breathing worse.
I'd start getting better, and then I'd get worse again. About half of it is pollen judging by the difference between cool, filtered air and Outside. But then there's that other half. I've bee gradually deteriorating as a result. It's just so exhausting and generally debilitating. So likely I crossed into secondary infection in April at some point, but the symptoms weren't that different from pollen + cold + cf carrier, just you know, gradually worse, gradually more.
I just don't have anything much left physically.
So we are doing what I think of as exploratory antibiotics, that thing where they hand me a zpac and hope without benefit of a sputum sample, since I'm producing, but not in a way that we can reasonably sample. If it gets worse, we can look into something targeting sinus or trying to get a sample that lets them test for a specific strain. Remember that time I had lung MRSA for half a year while also moving house and we kept trying antibiotics and I'd get better for a bit, then get worse and they gave in and sampled and were like: Oooo! You could have died?
This and finances is why I stopped going to conventions.
In other news, Livia's Clawdia tolerance keeps improving. They touched noses Tuesday evening.
I haven't made the vet appointment for the kittens yet as Livia is on urine watch. If I have to take her for a urinary tract emergency, the kittens can not get their booster this month.
She is still concerning, but the Tuesday sample was less alarming than Sunday or Monday. It can me stress, kitten related schedule disruption and/or she may have gotten into the kitten food I finished transitioning the kittens off today. Any of these can make her ill, particularly together, so I watch and hope. If she goes back on prescription food with kittens it will be really hard, because of all the manual switching and having to watch everyone eat and lock everything up when they aren't eating. Livia does best if she can graze. The kittens are visibly growing fast. I will do it if I must, but better Livia normalize in the next couple of days. I love her and I do not want her to get scary sick like she did when she was young.
Meanwhile, the kittens are taking turns having digestive issues. It's currently Saffy. Seriously, fingers crossed folks.
* All I achieved Saturday is an extremely long Livia Love during Plague Time followed by an even longer kitten feather boa toy time. (I have to hide Livia's special feather toy from them as they are not mature enough to handle it and it would be dead in a day.)
I did change all the litters but one Saturday. This suggests the antibiotics are working. I need to hit the other box and the two most popular boxes before bed, but I am tired now.

They are longer now. Saffy is noticeably taller and longer than Claw Claw, who is a little more solidly built. They are both in the putting on a little more weight ahead of the next growth spurt phase. They are growing so fast.
I am still looking for a Livia safe Kitten Kibble the kittens like better than Livia food as they are still taking turns with intestinal distress. Today's sample they absolutely love. It's got more ingredients than is ideal if Livia gets into the food, but nothing on the proscribed list. Let's see how kitten digestive systems handle the next 24 hours. I've got two other samples, one from the same company as this. I also when through the adult emergency sample bag to pull out things I know Livia won't much like, as if none of these kitten samples work out, I can at least test some other flavours and ingredient sets in hopes there is one that does and a corresponding kitten version.
It turns out the bank did the glasses withdraw right before the SSI deposit Tuesday morning, the bastard, which ate at least half my bill money for the month. Fuck! Which means I need to catch up before kittens can get booster shots. And I still need to find gas money somewhere as picking up the glasses will only leave a quarter tank and another big price hike is expected.
In other news, the nice young refugee lady called this morning, cleared to work. I have to call Asshole Agency Monday to reopen her for her hours here. The poor woman was moved I'd saved her hours for her. I was like I promised you your job would be here when you were allowed to work. It is still your job. I'm still angry they did this to her, but am relieved I might have her back end of week if I can get through and am lucky. The guy I hired last week for two four hours a month to do longer projects, I have not heard back from, so he may be in Asshole Agency limbo. If he is in long term limbo the world doesn't end, as at some point New Millennial should be back.

I don't know where you live, so I can't link this for you, but I find the Progressive Voter Guide online very helpful in narrowing down candidates in the often packed primaries where I live.
I also suggest looking at things like volunteer work and endorsements, because it really, really helps with things like sheriff and judicial elections, but can be useful in all sorts of primaries when you have multiple good options.

My state didn't restrict EBT, but there was an extra supplementary card for elderly and disabled folks you could only use for "healthy" foods. But unlike SNAP/EBT you couldn't use it at farmer's markets or to buy seeds or food plant starts. It was incredibly arbitrary, and wouldn't tell you if something was covered or not, so you'd go to buy food and discover that while bread and burger buns are "healthy," bagels aren't. You couldn't combine with EBT, so you'd end up buying the randomly disallowed things out of pocket and sucks to be you if you didn't have cash.
Somehow a lot of things I'd class as "healthy" like corn tortillas weren't. I can't prove that white bread and buns being "healthy" but bagels and tortillas being classed "unhealthy" was racial bias, but I side eyed it every fucking time.
The question of who decides what is and isn't "healthy." is one I take very seriously, because I've seen how it works in practice.
Making people play a guessing game like that is cruel and helps no one. It's about Republicans punishing the poor and disabled. Fuck that. I'm an adult and I know what I can and can't eat better than some random person who's never met me.
They got rid of the "Healthy/Unhealthy" bullshit categorization for 2026, so I can have my bagels and tortillas in piece, but it was stressful using the benefit before and I remain angry about it.

We spent billions of dollars setting up 13 Ebola facilities with specially trained staff after last time, but are choosing instead to force Kenya to let us send American ebola patients to a military base without the right range of equipment and without staff specially trained in ebola against both medical advice and the strenuous objections of the Kenyan government and the people therein.
The cruelty and the arrogance of our behavior is infuriating.

* Monday: Cat adjustment continues apace. So Livia has a long standing habit of settling in my bed when she hears me returning to bed from a bathroom trip. she's been doing this for 7ish years, but she stopped because the bed was full of kittens. See, Saffy had the same idea about a week ago and her sister also usually comes along. Today Livia decided she's taking her mid day loves back.
As the kittens like to follow me to the bathroom, Livia, strategically placed on her padded bedroom window podium has a serious strategic advantage. My the time the kittens got there she was on her closet pillow getting her head scritches on. Clawdia stopped short about a foot from Livia, who didn't even give a warning growl. When Saffy turned up a few minutes later, claw Claw moved over and the three of them sat looking at each other all in paws reach with no trouble.
It happened a second time when I woke up for real, but this time poor Saffy did a blind leap from the side and landed right next to Livia, startling her into a hiss, but Saffy sat om my head pillow for a pet for a bit, then walked between Livia, fur brushing hers, to sit near her sister. She kept hitting Livia's head with her tail during her pet and Livia just sat there enjoying her own.
Saffy and Livia spend a big chuck of every evening and night sleeping a couple feet from each other and just generally vibing, but this is a new level of Livia being comfortable with her, and Clawdia sitting a foot away with no Saffy and no drama is a big step for them.
* So I don't know if I've mentioned, but I've been sick for more than two and a half months. It's not COVID. I think a cold hit around when the pollen started up here and it's been an incredibly bed pollen year. So I'm dealing with that and my assorted chronic illnesses and it frequently being too hot, which sounds like not a real problem, but I very likely had heat stroke in the summer of '87 (I've written about this alot) that was never treated and have had heat exhaustion a bunch of times since. I just don't function well in the heat, and it makes pollen worse (this is a very wet environment) and thus my breathing worse.
I'd start getting better, and then I'd get worse again. About half of it is pollen judging by the difference between cool, filtered air and Outside. But then there's that other half. I've bee gradually deteriorating as a result. It's just so exhausting and generally debilitating. So likely I crossed into secondary infection in April at some point, but the symptoms weren't that different from pollen + cold + cf carrier, just you know, gradually worse, gradually more.
I just don't have anything much left physically.
So we are doing what I think of as exploratory antibiotics, that thing where they hand me a zpac and hope without benefit of a sputum sample, since I'm producing, but not in a way that we can reasonably sample. If it gets worse, we can look into something targeting sinus or trying to get a sample that lets them test for a specific strain. Remember that time I had lung MRSA for half a year while also moving house and we kept trying antibiotics and I'd get better for a bit, then get worse and they gave in and sampled and were like: Oooo! You could have died?
This and finances is why I stopped going to conventions.
In other news, Livia's Clawdia tolerance keeps improving. They touched noses Tuesday evening.
I haven't made the vet appointment for the kittens yet as Livia is on urine watch. If I have to take her for a urinary tract emergency, the kittens can not get their booster this month.
She is still concerning, but the Tuesday sample was less alarming than Sunday or Monday. It can me stress, kitten related schedule disruption and/or she may have gotten into the kitten food I finished transitioning the kittens off today. Any of these can make her ill, particularly together, so I watch and hope. If she goes back on prescription food with kittens it will be really hard, because of all the manual switching and having to watch everyone eat and lock everything up when they aren't eating. Livia does best if she can graze. The kittens are visibly growing fast. I will do it if I must, but better Livia normalize in the next couple of days. I love her and I do not want her to get scary sick like she did when she was young.
Meanwhile, the kittens are taking turns having digestive issues. It's currently Saffy. Seriously, fingers crossed folks.
* All I achieved Saturday is an extremely long Livia Love during Plague Time followed by an even longer kitten feather boa toy time. (I have to hide Livia's special feather toy from them as they are not mature enough to handle it and it would be dead in a day.)
I did change all the litters but one Saturday. This suggests the antibiotics are working. I need to hit the other box and the two most popular boxes before bed, but I am tired now.

They are longer now. Saffy is noticeably taller and longer than Claw Claw, who is a little more solidly built. They are both in the putting on a little more weight ahead of the next growth spurt phase. They are growing so fast.
I am still looking for a Livia safe Kitten Kibble the kittens like better than Livia food as they are still taking turns with intestinal distress. Today's sample they absolutely love. It's got more ingredients than is ideal if Livia gets into the food, but nothing on the proscribed list. Let's see how kitten digestive systems handle the next 24 hours. I've got two other samples, one from the same company as this. I also when through the adult emergency sample bag to pull out things I know Livia won't much like, as if none of these kitten samples work out, I can at least test some other flavours and ingredient sets in hopes there is one that does and a corresponding kitten version.
It turns out the bank did the glasses withdraw right before the SSI deposit Tuesday morning, the bastard, which ate at least half my bill money for the month. Fuck! Which means I need to catch up before kittens can get booster shots. And I still need to find gas money somewhere as picking up the glasses will only leave a quarter tank and another big price hike is expected.
In other news, the nice young refugee lady called this morning, cleared to work. I have to call Asshole Agency Monday to reopen her for her hours here. The poor woman was moved I'd saved her hours for her. I was like I promised you your job would be here when you were allowed to work. It is still your job. I'm still angry they did this to her, but am relieved I might have her back end of week if I can get through and am lucky. The guy I hired last week for two four hours a month to do longer projects, I have not heard back from, so he may be in Asshole Agency limbo. If he is in long term limbo the world doesn't end, as at some point New Millennial should be back.
