This is a massive tax on American consumers, done out of ego, which will also harm our international relationships. The last time he did this it was incredibly destructive to American farmers as it long term messed up our soy bean exports.

There is no rational reason to do this unless you really hate the American people and want to do as much harm to ordinary people as possible.

* It's unusually cold here for the second year in a row as the wind/current system degrades thanks to climate change. Squirrel's space heater died early last week, so I lent him the modern one I got a few years ago when the old second or third hand one caught fire. I use this to eat the common area of the apartment. This left me the other second or third hand ancient that lives in my bathroom as it is otherwise a serious fire hazard.

I have my shoulder wrap. I have heating pads. I do the trick where I turn the bathroom heater on and use fans to blow the warmth into more of the apartment. I never heat my bedroom as the water heater and body heat tend to make it too warm for sleeping without a fan most of the year and if it gets too cold, I add a blanket for a couple of ours. (I can't sleep properly unless it's cool.) My little office area behind the sofa was a little chillier than I enjoy, but not by that much. I grew up with proper seasons where it really snows, after all and they used to make us run meets in shorts and either a short sleeved athletic shirt or singlet. We were forceably underdressed for a lot of our out door sports and gym things just in general. I hated this, but I can tolerate cold a lot better than I tolerate heat. I just tends to up the pain and make it harder to do things like walk, bend over, etc.. Annoying but inside the range of what I deal with on the regular.

The forecast for Saturday-Sunday looked bad though.

The forecast was correct about it being really properly cold Saturday. Luckily, Squirrel's space heater turned up and I got mine back, which the cats very much appreciated as they had to huddle with me for warmth up to that point, even Livia, who had cold adapted genes and puts on a lot of weight and extra fur for Winter, which she generally sheds rather dramatically in spring. (She and I have similar taste in temperatures and also really suffers when it's hot. The Emperor is a skinny little thing who doesn't do well in cold. He has a special heated bed).

I got word about the dramatic escalation of food prices likely for this week, so instead of waiting for Millennial help, scurried out into flurries to spend my OTC and a wee bit of EBT on cheese, bagels, and fresh veg, and to pick up a few pharmacy things while I was out. It was sticking by the time I reached the grocery. It had stopped by the time I left the pharmacy. (OTC is designed as a give away to big chains, so I have to use it for a more limited number of things at close grocery, or a few others far away. The good winter vegetables come from that store anyway. I make do).

It was on and off all Sunday and a thin layer ended up sticking.

I kind of wanted to go and raid a different grocery for cheaper spaghetti sauce and sandwich cheese from the store where those are a better deal. I need to see what conditions are like. snow over ice is a good way for me to really hurt myself, so I stay in. If it mostly melts, I will likely go.

In home physio today. I am making progress, but it's definitely just wearing me out every day.

Car tax is paid. I await the housing tax bill.

* Every time I see David Dastmalchian, I think about my oldest continuous friend clocking how I'd been pronouncing his last name and noting that I'd been "Frenchifying it." Which is accurate. Didn't know I was doing it. Didn't think about it consciously until it was pointed out.

To this day. Literally several times today, I catch myself doing it in my head, then correcting it.

Brains are weird.

* Monday afternoon addendum. I did go out, though conditions were not ideal. I blew most of the month's food money. It's looking like it mostly wasn't strictly necessary except for the cheese and some things I was out of, but I feel better stocked up in case the whether continues. (Meat and egg shortages don't effect me. The coming cat food shortages will. Last time they discontinued Livia's medically essential special girl food and it was a nightmare searching for a safe replacement. The current stuff is objectively better and they both love it. It's also more expensive. This projected price hike and shortage will likely be worse and of longer duration, and we don't have stores built up like last time. Not solvable just now, alas).

Physio was mostly talk and massage, which honestly, I needed.

I watched it snow out my window behind her as she talked. It stopped my the time she left, but snowed again a while mid-afternoon. I really am glad I got food today, though I rather wish I'd saved more EBT for bagels and tomatoes later in the month.

I am so very tired, but I need to press through for a bunch of reasons.
