* There are 36 suspected cases of Ebola with sixteen dead in Uganda. Some of the victims are prisoners. Fifteen of the infected, including eleven of the dead were infected at a funeral for a baby who was the first known victim. It is a terrible way to die.

* More than 200,000 Syrians have fled to refugee camps in neighboring countries in the last ten days alone. Kofi Annan has quit the UN delegation.

* On the Republicans rebreaking the Ohio election system, as forcing people to take a whole day off work to vote really crushes turnout for people who work for a living: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#48476598

* Republicans wasted today trying to woo Latino voters by holding hearings in aid of them passing an English only bill. After all, barring government employees from helping people fill in any language but English is a good way to prevent people properly filling out Immigration related forms, for example, and keeping teachers from helping students understand directions when they are accused. I'm also pretty sure such a law would violate the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and possibly the first Amendment. Too bad. It's more important politically to make sure everyone know just how much Republicans hate brown people.

* I'm not a fan of unsubstantiated accusations. Yes, that goes for Harry Reed. Invoking the shame of someone's dead Father is right out. I hold Democrat and Republican politicians to the same standard. If you're going after an individual, you better have proof.

* It turns out the Romney adviser who tried to start a war between Israel and Iran and advised Mitt Romney to say racist things about Palestinians on the Israel trip is an ex-Bush adviser who helped spin the Iraq War. Charming.

* I did get reasonable sleep today, though not enough to make up for the last few days. I did get to my rescheduled doctor's appointment, the library, and paid my rent, but that took nearly all the spoons and pain resistance. They did power wash the first to building today. They will be getting ours tomorrow. After which I really need to move the garden back outside somehow. As I am exhausted, I'm giving in and crashing early.
