I didn't know anyone who went to this program, but I had friends and friends of friends who got sent to for profit troubled teen programs in the '80's and it always went really badly. People going in with depression and comming out with major gtrauma, people developing drug addictions there, people killing themselves. I never knew or heard of anyone they actually helped.

The first protest I ever went to was the massive one in D.C. in April of '89. My lover and I were on the Pro-choice side, of course. Bodily autonomy has always been incredibly important to me. (Even though there is reason to think I never could have reproduced even if I'd wanted to.)
If you physically can, protest in D.C. In your state capitol. In front of your local government. NOW is the time, because more than half the country has trigger laws and their right to chose is gone the second that opinion is published.
If Republicans take Congress at the midterms, odds are the whole country will lose the right to chose next February or March. Are you registered to vote? Check. Primaries are happening now.
Remember, Birth control access and most LGBTQIA+ Rights rest on the same right to privacy that SCOTUS will be overturning with this ruling.
I want to thank all of you who are going to be protesting tomorrow and in the coming weeks. I wish I could join you. (I am medically fragile, and I can't afford to get sick before this surgery, because there is a ticking time bomb inside my body).
If we do not fight for this, so much will be lost. Please, please, please fight for the future of everyone.

I didn't know anyone who went to this program, but I had friends and friends of friends who got sent to for profit troubled teen programs in the '80's and it always went really badly. The first protest I ever went to was the massive one in D.C. in April of '89. My lover and I were on the Pro-choice side, of course. Bodily autonomy has always been incredibly important to me. (Even though there is reason to think I never could have reproduced even if I'd wanted to.)
If you physically can, protest in D.C. In your state capitol. In front of your local government. NOW is the time, because more than half the country has trigger laws and their right to chose is gone the second that opinion is published.
If Republicans take Congress at the midterms, odds are the whole country will lose the right to chose next February or March. Are you registered to vote? Check. Primaries are happening now.
Remember, Birth control access and most LGBTQIA+ Rights rest on the same right to privacy that SCOTUS will be overturning with this ruling.
I want to thank all of you who are going to be protesting tomorrow and in the coming weeks. I wish I could join you. (I am medically fragile, and I can't afford to get sick before this surgery, because there is a ticking time bomb inside my body).
