gwydion* Remember the deadly epidemic killing babies in Cambodia? They think they've solved it. It looks like three diseases plus steroids were working together to kill the children. (It's Dengue, Strep, and Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease). They were being given the steroids to decrease inflammation, but it suppressed their immune system enough for the three pathogens to kill them. It's important both so they can better treat the other children coming in with the illness, and it's really important to know in that this is not going to go global. Given how deadly this has been there is talk of changing treatment protocols for babies.

* I am trying to decide if I am sick or if I am experiencing problems from the disruption of my med schedule, allergies, and/or random chronic stuff. Sigh.
* Drift came from the library yesterday and I am reading it with fascination and horror, as I don't want to repeat the mistake of waiting and having to return it early like last time. It is still deeply surreal reading history I lived through. It's honestly terrifying how much worse Ronald Reagan was than I thought, and believe me, I thought he was pretty bad.
