* So I've been trying to put things a little more right around the place. About the time I normally start hunkering down in advance of the contractors, the cats watched me take their poop box out of the bedroom. You should have seen their excited little faces, their big moon eyes watching it go back to wear it belonged, so hopeful. I opened the window, as it's warm enough during the day, but I also do that before the invaders come. They were uncertain. Then I wet outside and started dragging stands and containers around, which sure sounded like invaders, but the door wasn't closed and I wasn't hiding with them. Eventually they checked the patio window, tiny faces peering over the air conditioner to see the human tending plants, carrying water back and forth. normal things, no sign of Strangers at all. They came out into the living room, joining Elder Kitty in watching the gazebo birds an monitoring my doings.

Things are still not normal, not even close, really. I normally do these things in the late afternoon or early evening, but there were shoots coming up in places I couldn't get water to during the siege and a lot of things were drier than is good for them and some things were more shadowed than is ideal for their plants. I spread them out so they could really soak up the sun today and everything is properly watered. I planted seeds. I still have a bunch of smaller things to do out there, but the important stuff is done.

This evening I had a good bath and started looking through the art box, thinking about what should go in the blank places. Small bits of progress, but sometimes prep is all one can do.
