* Early Voting for the Presidential Primary in Washington State has started! Washingtonians, check you mail box!

My state has finally axed the grueling presidential caucus system in favor of paper primary ballots! Woot Woot! No really, those things were an absolute nightmare for me as a person with multiple disabilities and were a pain in the ass for people with weekend jobs and/or transportation issues. This is so much easier, fairer and more secure. I genuinely hope that the last hold out states will switch for 2020.

Remember, you may only vote in one presidential primary for one person in one party. Make sure you check the correct party on the exterior security envelope to match the party you picked inside on the actual ballot. Do NOT take a picture of your ballot. If your ballot hasn't turned up by March third, I suggest going down to your local courthouse and voting in person before the deadline on the 10th. If you vote in person DO NOT fill out a mail in.

Please, please, please, pick the person who most represents your views instead of trying to guess what an imaginary voter in the Midwest might do. This is your chance to let your views be known. Even if your candidate doesn't win, a really strong showing for a losing candidate can have an effect on the party platform and the decisions the nominee may make about policies to push.

Vote your passion in the primary; in November vote blue no matter who.

I voted today, did you?

* I closed out dreamwidth for the night and settled in with the cats for a nap until it was time to wait for the contractors. It took them rather longer than they'd intended to load up the tub etc., so I ended up watching ice skating on the sofa with a mounting headache. I started them on squirrel's dry wall first, then retreated to my room with cats and air filter for a longer nap.

I had promised to help some friends by bringing my car for them to haul things in the afternoon, which was honestly for the best as the really loud banging and power tools with associated massive amounts of plaster dust started about 20 minutes before the alarm. I drove them and their gear where they needed to do then did some absolutely necessary errands down town, including copying my tax return for an essential time sensitive bit of bureaucracy.

This was of course too much for foot and lungs, but nothing for it. Could not retreat to filtration s I had to do said bureaucracy, vote, and be available to let the electrician in to pock around and consult with the regular contractor and me about how exactly to solve the electricals on the tub.

Meanwhile, it turned out that the new tub was not exactly the expected size. It was advertised as 60" in length, which I am told usually means 59 1/2" because of things to do with space for surround, etc.. Readers, it was 60 1/2" O.o Look, an inch may not mean a lot in all sorts of things, but hear in means that they had to remove studs to make it fit. Their optimistic expectation of having the actual tub hooked up to water today was waaaay off as a result. There was also an issue of where the pump is going exactly, which I think the gentlemen sorted by end of day. Anyway, they have worked out a way to get a separate circuit from squirrels bedroom panel to my bathroom that involves way fewer holes then they initially feared, while keeping to code. This is a lot cheaper and less destructive and involves significantly less lung risk, though this whole process is already setting me back breathing wise and I expect it to get worse before it gets better.

They will be back bright and early to attack he electricals and try very hard to attach the tub to the plumbing so that I might bathe carefully this weekend. There will still be the surround to contend with and sundry smaller things, plus the continuing drywall project and the triangular hole in the living room floor, but the final push has started.

Meanwhile using the kitchen is rather a challenge and I can't use washer, dryer, and bath for the duration. When I say challenge, I can use the fridge and I dragged enough stuff out of the way to reach the oven, but plates require a major effort on my part and pots and pans are right out. Luckily, I was careful to ensure I had a supply of ready meals, so I will not go hungry tonight. I have been wearing my mask all day except under filtration and for essential things like drinking. The window is open and the fans are on full.

Tavy initially protested being sent to his room. He had not been naughty. It wasn't fair! I had just carried him to the door of my room when there was a massive BANG! behind up. His leap from my arms to the safety of the bed was impressive. Every time there was a lull he tried to convince me he could safely be let loose, but I was cruel and the next round of power tools convinced him waiting was worthwhile each time. Livia went right to her best hide when the invaders came and stayed there until the noise on the other side of the wall panicked her, poor thing. She ran in circles to escape until she worked out that nothing was actually happening Inside our room, so she went back to her hide.

As I wrote this, my first meal of the day was baking and the Imperial couple had all had litter box time and a snack and have gone to see if the gazebo birds were up to anything interesting. They are still rather nervous. For them this was the worst day of the Renovation so far by a lot. Elder kitty got loose as there was drywall work in squirrel's bathroom. She literally tried to get into the bathtub plumbing hole and I had to discourage her, gently herd her back to her room, and lock her back in. Needless to say, she is not traumatized.

Update: I had a hot meal. Livia ate at least half her meat. All three of them followed be into my dust, equipment, and debris filled bathroom and they were fascinated and alarmed by the radical changes. There was rather a tense stand off, but no blows were exchanged. Elder Kitty, discovering access was blocked to that rather interesting plumbing hole settled on top of an equipment? tool? duffel for a nap once the Imperial forces withdrew.
