* Thursday a good looking my ageish gentleman came to look over the apartment for the city. This is the program I mentioned a while back that fixes stuff up for elderly and disabled people to make it safe for them to stay in their homes. It sounds like he thinks they'll approve me for upgrades. I'll likely know after Thanksgiving and they'll start ripping things out in January if it all goes through.
New water heater, new plumbing, they are getting me new working no-broken doorknobs, and cleaning the fan vent. likely they will take the big broken fake fireplace out of the corner and get me a better tub with a grab bar. If there's enough money left new microwave/hood over the stove, possibly new toilet and washer and dryer. I don't have to pay anything back as long as I stay here until I die, which is the plan. If I get that corner back I can move that one book case and have actual room in the living room.
Bonus? Dude had this really warm, calm vibe. Tavy didn't want to be in a room with him, mostly, but he didn't hide, he'd just switch rooms. By the end he was sitting on my desk watching him measure things, all wide eyed. Suddenly, he darted over, sniffed his pant cuff and ran away. So brave!
He wasn't even a tiny bit uncomfortable to have poking around my apartment for two hours talking about home improvement. Like really good at not being a stranger, if that makes sense. Livia stayed in her hiding closet of course. she gets scared of us if we leave the apartment for a few hour. I think she forgets how big we are standing up if he hasn't seen us in a while. Actual stranger? Hard no.
