Jun. 12th, 2012 03:57 am* I lost yet another post. I haven't the energy to fully reconstitute it. Appologies.
* 93 people in Syria were massacred today in a government assault on more civilian neighborhoods.
* Argentine Gender Identity Law Takes Effect: http://transgriot.blogspot.com/2012/06/argentinas-gender-identity-law-takes.html
* There was Progress in Alberta, Canada, as Well: http://transgriot.blogspot.com/2012/06/alberta-renstates-srs-funds.html
Now if they’d move their incredibly out dated gatekeeper system into the 21st century, or at least into the 190’s instead of inflicting Disco Era gender policing and stereotyping on vulnerable people who just want their damned letter.
*Remember that poor woman who's baby was eaten by dingoes? She was mocked and imprisoned because of it. Then they found the baby's remains in a dingo cave. She has since labored to clear her name in the face of continuing suspicion. The Northwestern Territories Judicial system just finally issued an official finding that the dingoes killed and ate the little girl. Can we all stop making fun of this woman's grief at the gruesome death of her child now? Her baby died and her whole adult life was ruined, so can we stop laughing at the mauling death of her daughter?
* While we're at it if you are "treyvoning" you are a shitty human being and a waste of skin. If you don't understand why this shit is unacceptable, you are reading the wrong blog. I fundamentally believe that mocking murder victims and rubbing salt in the wounds of the family is a cruel and generally crappy thing to do.
* In other racist news, a Southern, white Preacher decided it would be a good idea to lynch the president in effigy in front of his Florida Church. He has changed the display around after the Secret Service turned up to ask pointed questions. He is claiming that a white Southerner lynching a black man in effigy for being uppity is not a racist act. Riiiiight.
* The late Pat Morita talks about his experiences in an Internment Camp (this is already the most popular thing I've posted on tumblr):
* Remember how when the NAACP stepped up to support marriage equality, how I said I hoped the LGBT organizations would do the same to civil rights issues? I just spotted the first sign of it in LGBT organizations pitching in to help with a march against Stop and Frisk. Let’s hope this is the start of a long and beautiful collaboration.
* I nearly finished the horrible hand made soap. (The texture was so unpleasant I didn't want to bath). I'm now trying the first of the gift soaps my sister sent. It is a pretty teal with a darker blue pattern. The corrugations are unfortunate, but should improve with wear. It is sadly eucalyptus scented. This likely is not an issue for someone with normal sensory wiring, but I approached the soap with trepidation. Luckily, the scent was much softer and therefore tolerable when wet. Texture wise it was blessedly soft and silky on my skin. You can really see why it's so expensive. (In my head, I was thinking of fight Club. *ahem*) Anyway, it's Zumi's goat milk Eucalyptus soap, if you are curious.
* I am a little over halfway through Blackout. I was tempted to just stay in bed to finish it. I am suspecting I may not be able to say much about it that would be of help to anyone besides myself, except that it's more like Deadline than feed plotwise, which is logical given the nature of the series arc.
* Metalopolypse: I love it when Nathan Explosion, despite the band rule never to show caring or affection, still shows he loves Toki.
