In other cat news, one of the Beasts has figured out how to slide open the shower door with their paws. I can't prove it, but it's like the Empress Livia. My reasoning is as follows: It's the sort of thing that would interest her. It requires standing on hind legs and a certain amount of strength as I haven't oiled it recently. (She is biggest and strongest and likes standing on hind legs to investigate stuff. LM and Tavy are not nearly as long and LM is old and arthritic). LM is ancient and has had years to figure out the door and never has. She's not that bright and hates puzzles and it took her and her brother several years to learn how not to accidentally lock themselves in rooms by accidentally pushing the door closed instead of pulling it wider. Tavy has also had several years to learn to open it and is extremely bright and loves puzzles. He'd have solved it ages ago if it were a priority. Livia's lived here a year, but is super nervous about trying new things. She's gotten a lot more confident about trying new things in the bathroom like getting up on stuff lately and literally two days ago discovered the little through way in a bookshelf allowing her to surprise Tavy from above. She recently expressed an interest in what I am doing in the bathtub.
I've noticed it open about four times in the last weekish, and I'm careful about closing it as last time I stopped closing it, someone took a dump in there. Admittedly, I will occasionally forget right after a shower, but I always spot it right away next time I go in. These instances were always ones where I knew it had been closed and then it wasn't. I am tentatively chalking it up as Livia has a new skill. It's not an ideal skill, but I'm proud of her.
