* Short version? We took the house; they kept the Senate. It's not ideal, yes, but it actually is something. We can put the breaks on some things, and this means the House Intelligence Committee, for example will be working for the best interests of the United States instead of the best interests of Vladimir Putin. It does look like they won all the races in which Republicans were flagrantly cheating, and whole bunch of key ones in which they weren't. Sigh.
I am trying to decide if I should hold a Wake or not.
* We lost Claire McCaskill. Fuck. Donnelly and Heitcamp are out too. Looks like Joe Manchion held.
Hunter, the wildly corrupt Republican who is very likely going to jail and ran a viciously racist campaign in which he lied that a man with a high security clearance was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood because of his skin colour, won. Nunez won. Cruz won, possible with the help of those "computer glitches." DeSantis, who is wildly openly racist, won in Florida.
Ben Jealous and Andrew Gillum lost. Kim Davis, who illegally barred same sex couples from marrying, as did voter suppression extremist Kris Kobach.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is in with a landslide. Michigan, Maine, and Wisconsin will have Democratic Governors. Connor Lamb kept his seat in Pennsylvania. Jackie Rosen is going to the Senate.
Proud Neo-NAZI Steve King won because that's just how racist they are in Iowa.
Jeff Fortenberry, who is persecuting a college professor in violation of the 1St Amendment with the full power of the government and at taxpayer expense for liking something on Facebook won.
