* Today was brutal. Just before bed, I stepped on one of those flat old fashioned thumb tacks. It went all the way in the ball of my right foot. I did not know we owned any old fashioned thumbtacks and I've zero idea why one would be between the side table in the living room and the book shelves. I have no idea if my last tetanus shot is still good as I have an eight year window in which it fell. D'oh. The phone tag involved in trying to find out exhausts me just thinking about it, so lets all cross our fingers, shall we? So picture me gimping about on a painful foot wound for the rest of this. This year's flu shot is comparatively mild as these things go. I had a light fever sunday night-wee hours of Monday, and a dull achiness on top of the usual chronic pain ache that is likely from that, but hardly any injection site reaction. This puts me well ahead of where I'd normally be. I suspect it's a contributing factor to my lethargy, but seriously as flu shots go, this one is easy.
I was ripped from sleep before the alarm by an obvious credit card fishing scam, exhausted and short sleeped, after being haunted by the throbbing foot pain all through attempts to sleep and what sleep I got. The cats scattered in terror of the phone, of course, and I think Livia may be scared of the weird way I am walking to try to protect my foot. She gives every sign of not quite recognizing me when I'm upright which can happen as cats rely a lot on body language.
I dragged myself out in time to forage, went to the pharmacy where I discovered the tenner I'd pulled for meds and toilet paper on Saturday was missing, which means no toilet paper, which will not be fun. I did scrape together meds money out of small change. I hobbled around the library, then went to pay the small bill. (That's the thing where I pay a token every month and they don't send me to collections.) I had to pay them more than usual which just ate a chunk of the money I reserve for insurance auto-withdraw. I'll know exactly how fucked I am in a few days when everything clears. I haven't paid either of this month's big bills, as everything went to what I couldn't cover last month. This is me trying not to panic.
After I did lungs and got food away, I couldn't figure out what to eat, so I had a tiny thing of dark grapes I got foraging and set in to do a set of eBays. I've no real hope it's enough, but one has to try. I did manage to eat real food after nine.
What's up with all the archaeology news? In the Before Time, I used to do archaeology/history news every week. It's been mostly impossible since the Muscovite Candidate started running for office and then after with the firehouse of horror from the White House. I do try to post when I have tie to keep up with the archaeology press. There was a gap in the clouds this weekend, so.... Yeah.

- 7.3 Interface. I hate this episode for reasons that will likely soon be obvious. Geordi is using a V.R interface with a probe. His interface is extra good because of his visor interface. They plan to use to probe to find out if there are any survivors of a crash. Picard has to inform him his mother's ship has gone missing. Geordi's feeling guilty about not answering her last video letter. Riker offers to use the interface instead, but Geordi insists. He searches the craft, but all are dead. There is a fire there and he's burned for real, because psychosomatic response. Geordi talks to his dad about his Mother's funeral. Geordi refuses to accept it without evidence. Data asks if Geordi needs to be comforted, but Geordi says no. Data is studying poetry, which involves staring at a blank screen, which is not nothing. "This emptiness has a poetic meaning therefore it can't be considered nothing as such." This conversation's kind of cool and makes me think of that modern art piece by Tom Friedman, that is three feet of empty are with a curse theoretically in it. Data talks about lacunae. Geordi ends up talking about his Mother after all to Data after explaining to Data no means yes. O.o They lower the input level and send him back to try to retrieve their data and sees his Mother who tells him to go down to the surface because they are dying. Understandably, they disconnect him and force him to go see Deanna. Data comes up with a plan to use relays to bring up the dead ship. Geordi posits the new engineer accidentally made a subspace funnel. Picard picks Data's plan instead of a dangerous mission based on no data. Riker tells Geordi about how he used to tell stories about his dead Mother as if she was alive at school. Data catches Geordi trying to VR down to look for his mother, but agrees to monitor Geordi instead of stopping him. The supposed mother confirms all the speculations from the meeting. Geordi has a plan to reverse the supposed funnel. Geordi wants Data to increase the interface gain as they descend. It sounds like when he rises it has to be slow to avoid the neurological equivalent of the bends. Geordi basically holds himself hostage to get Data to go to full tolerance. Picard orders him to come back. Geordi blows him off, but can't find the supposed ship. The supposed mother does something to his head. It is, of course a trapped alien pretending to be his Mother to get him to take them home. The aliens accidentally killed the crew trying to communicate with them. Geordi rescues them; they save Geordi.

* Today was brutal. Just before bed, I stepped on one of those flat old fashioned thumb tacks. It went all the way in the ball of my right foot. I did not know we owned any old fashioned thumbtacks and I've zero idea why one would be between the side table in the living room and the book shelves. I have no idea if my last tetanus shot is still good as I have an eight year window in which it fell. D'oh. The phone tag involved in trying to find out exhausts me just thinking about it, so lets all cross our fingers, shall we? So picture me gimping about on a painful foot wound for the rest of this. This year's flu shot is comparatively mild as these things go. I had a light fever sunday night-wee hours of Monday, and a dull achiness on top of the usual chronic pain ache that is likely from that, but hardly any injection site reaction. This puts me well ahead of where I'd normally be. I suspect it's a contributing factor to my lethargy, but seriously as flu shots go, this one is easy.
I was ripped from sleep before the alarm by an obvious credit card fishing scam, exhausted and short sleeped, after being haunted by the throbbing foot pain all through attempts to sleep and what sleep I got. The cats scattered in terror of the phone, of course, and I think Livia may be scared of the weird way I am walking to try to protect my foot. She gives every sign of not quite recognizing me when I'm upright which can happen as cats rely a lot on body language.
I dragged myself out in time to forage, went to the pharmacy where I discovered the tenner I'd pulled for meds and toilet paper on Saturday was missing, which means no toilet paper, which will not be fun. I did scrape together meds money out of small change. I hobbled around the library, then went to pay the small bill. (That's the thing where I pay a token every month and they don't send me to collections.) I had to pay them more than usual which just ate a chunk of the money I reserve for insurance auto-withdraw. I'll know exactly how fucked I am in a few days when everything clears. I haven't paid either of this month's big bills, as everything went to what I couldn't cover last month. This is me trying not to panic.
After I did lungs and got food away, I couldn't figure out what to eat, so I had a tiny thing of dark grapes I got foraging and set in to do a set of eBays. I've no real hope it's enough, but one has to try. I did manage to eat real food after nine.
What's up with all the archaeology news? In the Before Time, I used to do archaeology/history news every week. It's been mostly impossible since the Muscovite Candidate started running for office and then after with the firehouse of horror from the White House. I do try to post when I have tie to keep up with the archaeology press. There was a gap in the clouds this weekend, so.... Yeah.

* TNG: Season 7 Rewatch:
- 7.3 Interface. I hate this episode for reasons that will likely soon be obvious. Geordi is using a V.R interface with a probe. His interface is extra good because of his visor interface. They plan to use to probe to find out if there are any survivors of a crash. Picard has to inform him his mother's ship has gone missing. Geordi's feeling guilty about not answering her last video letter. Riker offers to use the interface instead, but Geordi insists. He searches the craft, but all are dead. There is a fire there and he's burned for real, because psychosomatic response. Geordi talks to his dad about his Mother's funeral. Geordi refuses to accept it without evidence. Data asks if Geordi needs to be comforted, but Geordi says no. Data is studying poetry, which involves staring at a blank screen, which is not nothing. "This emptiness has a poetic meaning therefore it can't be considered nothing as such." This conversation's kind of cool and makes me think of that modern art piece by Tom Friedman, that is three feet of empty are with a curse theoretically in it. Data talks about lacunae. Geordi ends up talking about his Mother after all to Data after explaining to Data no means yes. O.o They lower the input level and send him back to try to retrieve their data and sees his Mother who tells him to go down to the surface because they are dying. Understandably, they disconnect him and force him to go see Deanna. Data comes up with a plan to use relays to bring up the dead ship. Geordi posits the new engineer accidentally made a subspace funnel. Picard picks Data's plan instead of a dangerous mission based on no data. Riker tells Geordi about how he used to tell stories about his dead Mother as if she was alive at school. Data catches Geordi trying to VR down to look for his mother, but agrees to monitor Geordi instead of stopping him. The supposed mother confirms all the speculations from the meeting. Geordi has a plan to reverse the supposed funnel. Geordi wants Data to increase the interface gain as they descend. It sounds like when he rises it has to be slow to avoid the neurological equivalent of the bends. Geordi basically holds himself hostage to get Data to go to full tolerance. Picard orders him to come back. Geordi blows him off, but can't find the supposed ship. The supposed mother does something to his head. It is, of course a trapped alien pretending to be his Mother to get him to take them home. The aliens accidentally killed the crew trying to communicate with them. Geordi rescues them; they save Geordi.
