45 unilaterally decided to green light the genocide of our Kurdish allies without warning the Kurds, the state Department, the Pentagon, our allies.... Fuck! You know it's bad when both parties are losing their shot over this.

Look, y'all know I am just generally against us waging Forever wars in Western Asia, but once we got involved we acquired certain responsibilities to the people who are literally depending on our promises that they won't be slaughtered summarily after working with us for years.

My father hated the Vietnam War and my parents made certain life decisions with the whole my dad not wanting to fight in something so pointless and unjustifiable thing in mind. He also never forgave out government for abandoning South Vietnamese supporters and allies to be rounded up and be slaughtered or sent to concentration camps. Later I would be friends with a woman who was tortured and barely survived one of those camps as a young girl. Her family didn't.

We owe the Kurds. We owe the Kurds a lot. Just generally, their values are more in line with ours than most groups in Western Asia. We have Kurdish refugees here locally and I knew some of the kids back when I was teaching. Thoe kids had spent their whole lives in fear for their lives fleeing across borders over and over. We are doing a terrible thing.

People are going to be raped and tortured and slaughtered. Multiple governments in that region are always on the verge of anti-Kurdish genocide, and periodically try to wipe out populations in regions they control.

We just told Turkey, Russia, and Syria we are cool with them doing that. To our allies. Without warning them.
