* Friday I stayed up to forage. I didn't particularly want to, but I needed to go downtown to order a case of delicious safe for me protein, which costs approximately half a month's food allotment. I needed to do this as I needed to find out how much I had for margarine and dried fruit which I needed ASAP. So I did that, looped up to the store with the margarine and the nothing added dried mango I like, and then snagged the second to last parking spot at the forage line. I just missed a spot on the bench, so I got out my lawn chair and propped my feet up on my gear for the hour long wait for open. I'd meant to either bring Racine or a book about an early modern french female polymath I've just started, but it slipped my mind, so I was reading my emergency short stories from the messenger bag instead. It was a fast forage once I got in, as we have a ton of veg so I could skip most of produce which is where things tend to slow to a crawl. (I dipped in to grab our tomatoes and snagged a hand of bananas at the end).

I woke from strange dreams with a serious headache and basically stayed in bed most of the evening reading a novel and finishing season three of the Good Wife. (Team Kalinda! Team Diane!)

The Social security finally posted which meant I covered the July bill I really needed to pay just in time for it not to have escalating fees. I flat out don't have enough quite enough for housing tax if I want to cover insurance auto draw, and I'm going to have to float a bill this month too, which leaves me somewhere scary for September. Sigh. I need to get another auction together, but I need to be more together physically to make that happen.

* So I dreamed my friends and I were doing something at a shopping center and there was a club/restaurant called "Epicene" with a top hat and wand logo. Imagine my excitement! I was picturing radically androgynous magicians and the like. It looked to be serving High Tea with a floor show. On entering, we were offered glitter shoes to wear. I, of course, picked purple ones. They also dressed us in costumes of satin, sequins, and feathers. It turned out that each group arriving was to provide entertainment for the folks arriving ahead of them. I pointed out I knew nothing about Sleight of Hand. They said it wouldn't matter for what we were doing. I was having my first misgivings as I longingly eyed other costumed diners with their pasties and finger sandwiches and tea cakes. It turned out the four of us were to be pitted against the next four after us in a sort of pro-wrestling scenario. I pointed out that I know nothing about pro-wrestling beyond the bits i couldn't help absorbing from the culture around me despite my best efforts. They told me to improvise. As we stepped into the small roped off area for the four on four a dazzling array of shiny, glittery costumed spectators started booing us. We were the "heels" as it turned out. I resolved to make the best of it. I was not sanguine. Sure I loved wrestling friends growing up and had various things I picked up from various martial arts in my twenties, but the lover I had once who was a real amateur wrestler and made it two regionals in High School was the only man i'd ever been with who I couldn't wrestle on to his back and if anyone in the group was a real wrestler, I knew I'd had it. I also knew fuck all about stupid pro-wrestling stunts. The others were also in glittery padded costumes and we were ordered to charge in. I moved off the center line and threw my poignant, pinning him and discovering... a pouch of vegetables and plastic body parts in the padding. At which point I figured this much be zombie or cannibal themed...IDK. I was here for the androgyny, costumes, and High Tea, damnit, not pro-wrestling cannibal bullshit. But i'm a trooper, so I pretended to eat the guy and tossed the body parts to the cheering crowd. When I turned around, the others had all presumably lost and cleared the ring and it was just me an a guy in a satin and glitter stripey melon suit, which I accidental sort stripped off him in the resulting tussle. He wouldn't yield after I pinned him and I still couldn't get anyone to tell me what the rules were, so I started tickling him, which apparently wasn't the done thing, at which point I woke up never having gotten my longed for tea and androgyny. Sigh.

Not very restful as dreams go. I blame 45.
