* In case y'all are worried about me, yes, I am in the watch zone and I no longer live as high up the ridge as I used to, but I am on high ground, and there are a lot of islands to break up trouble on the way into our Bay, plus a lot of ground that would have to be flooded for me to be threatened. I'm not concerned for me, but rather people living in less protected low lying areas.
Please, Please, please, if you are in a low lying area in the warning zone, have a plan and go bag ready just in case, and keep an ear/eye out for official announcements. Do not fuck around with a tsunami related evacuation order

* So the planned massive hiring of hygienists ans expansion of services occurred between my last emergency dentistry at the end of 2016 and now. One is still not allowed to make appointments unless one is in the particular list of vulnerable categories they used to serve exclusively, but if one is a patient at the sister clinic one can get standby appointments for things besides clear emergencies. Yay! It also means that instead of spending all day hoping for cancellations, they have staff that processes standbys all day. I arrived at seven fifteen, so was the first there of the four that ended up waiting for them to open, but the rightly took the lady who had driven all night from somewhere rural and was not doing well first. My forty five minute wait to be seen was magically short compared to the four hours if I was lucky I was expecting. Instead of sending me away for a couple hours after x-raying, they kept me in a chair til the dentist was free and they solved crumbly tooth. It was tenish, by then and I had another forty five minute wait for my first cleaning since Hector got sick and I couldn't cover copays any more. The cleaning was thorough and understandably took ages, but it was free. I can get a free standby cleaning once a year. Theoretically I could get a second one sliding scale, but I doubt I'll have money for it. Still a cleaning a year is dramatic progress, given I'll never be able to afford a full copay. I need to go back for two smaller cavities next month, but the big problems are solved.
I went for my bloodwork next, which I keep forgetting to do and which is nearby. I really should have foraged, but I was exhausted and dizzy and the line was to the end of the loooong lock forage is on and I was not convinced I had leg or spoons left. Instead I went home to bed. Forage is officially Wednesday's problem and my teeth are February's problem along with property tax. Sigh. It was a new phlebotomist, who left the torniquet on too long so it really hurt. (It’s five bottles and there aren’t five bottles in one’s forearm). She was really angry she wasn’t allowed to get free cleaning at the poverty dentist. Her: I’m poor too! Me: Social is $700.00 a month out of which one needs to pay housing, electricity, etc.. Her mouth snapped shut on her “It’s unfair” rant. I agreed enthusiastically that I thought all health care including dentistry should be free as it is in sensible countries. I rather missed the nice easy going lady who was horrified by my lung samples as this was rather more intense than one wants after waiting up all night for a morning of dentistry and I’m not the asshole here, congressional Republicans are for standing in the way of single payer and other developed world health reforms. I WANT her to be able to afford dental cleanings.
Cat update: I am not convinced I'm going to be able to teach Livia tricks, though I keep trying. Tavy has learned the trick I am trying to teach her, but I've nothing he wants to reward him with. if there is ever money for more treats, I shall experiment in hopes of finding one he likes. She and Tavy are sleeping in a cat bundle at least twice a day now and the safe zone training is going slowly but steadily. Tavy now KNOWS I don't want him attacking her while sge's having a desk nap and that they'll be bounced out of bed if they fight on top of me, which doesn't stop him, but he's more tentative and more prone to giving up after several tries. Tavy starts all the desk fights and four out of five bed fights start when he attempts to groom her too vigorously or won't stop when she tells him to. The fifth fight is her wanting to flop on him when he doesn't want to cuddle or whapping him in hopes of a wrestle or game of tag. She is six months old and slightly longer than him, which can be seen when they walk side by side or stand together to look out the bedroom window or stretch out long on the bed near each other. He is heavier, adult proportioned, to her long thin, kitten proportioned body, but she still eats about twice as much as Tavy and LM and is gaining on him in weight. LM is doing her periodic socialization hours. We thing her eye sight isn't what it was and she has trouble telling the Imperial couple apart from each other and the doorstop gargoyles. Livia would like to be friends and Tavy mostly just wants to hang out with her in her room. LM may not be able to adjust though as Tavy was so aggressive in his early attempts with her that she wants nothing to do with these young punks. Still, She lets Livia come within two-three feet as long as she doesn't try to get closer, and she will sit on her bed glaring at Tavy as long as he doesn't come too close or try to interact. The goal really is for them to be able to mingle unsupervised and chill on a piece of furniture at a distance, as LM liked to d with the Senior Kitties before they died. She's elderly and getting fragile, but she gets lonely. Low key hanging out with a peer group would be good for her if she can adjust to Tavy's more adult and respectful demeanor and learn that Livia mostly just wants other cats to cuddly nap with. She may be too old to make the adjustment, but one can hope.
