* VICE has been running a series of clips where they do little interviews with families where the women voted Hillary and the men voted Trump. ( TW Sexual Assault: ) Her raw pain and bitterness at her father’s betrayal of her makes me want to weep every damned time.
* Today Squirrel and I went to get a TV. It is the largest TV I've ever owned, about two inches wider than the one that just died, with beautiful picture, but no remote or closed captioning, which is often the case with free second hand TV's. It used to be I'd post for a TV and I'd get five or six offers as all the middle class people were switching to flat screens, but loathe to throw out a perfectly good analog. This time, I got only the one offer, which suggests the boom is over. Let us hope these two last as there may not be more. I keep shaking and checking the sound only TV, but have not been able to shake whatever inside comes loose back into place.
The TV was on the second floor in a narrow corridor maze. It nearly killed us both handling it. As a result, Squirrel and I discovered a trick to moving TV's I wish I'd known 30 years ago, but better late than never. One can get a sturdy towel or small blanket. Put the TV on it and lift the towel. It evens out the weight and you aren't dealing with crappy handholds that are endlessly slipping. O.o So fucking simple. Why in hell haven't we been doing it this way all along?
* Vikings: Watching Sigurd and Ivar interact, I keep thinking, what are you both, five? Kidding aside, I really enjoy the way each of the Ragnarssons took a little piece of Travis Fimmal's performance and incorporated into into their distinct characterization. They are each very different, but all remind one of Ragnar as a result. It's really cleverly done.
* They were double billed with Carmina Burana of all things the one time I got to see professional ballet as a kid. The Philly audience did not get them at all. They were magic.
