* Today I had a big party on Game of Bones, as a lead in event for Dhraegon's wedding that is eating all of next weekend. There's also a scheduled scene and a sort of bachelor party on Tuesday. (Dhraegon is hyposexual and not interested at all in things like a brothel trawl, so it's mostly a drinking party). This is going to eat a huge amount of my time and attention for the next week+, especially when added to RL commitments. (The last event is a tourney Sunday a week). If my posting and availability are sparse or oddly clumped, this is why. I am told there is going to be a special surprise at one of the wedding related events, but I am not sure if it will be Saturday's Wedding Feast or the Sunday Tourney if you are planning on attending.
* I have reached the point in the Buffy rewatch where Faith rapes Riley and somehow it is all about Buffy’s feelings and not about Riley dealing with being raped. Yuck.
* I was obsessed with the Wiz for several years as a child. I'm not sure what exactly fascinated me so these decades later, but I used to watch it alot and draw the costumes for paper dolls for my little sister. From an adult perspective, the cast list is amazing, a who's who of black talent in America of that period, but the production is very much a thing of it's time and large stretches of it are sloooooow. The good bits are till the good bits, but there is a lot of filler.
It was absolutely time for a new production with an updated look. I was so excited to see the Wiz Live on TV and was not disappointed. It is beautiful. It is also a lot more like the Wizard of Oz than the movie version of the Wiz I grew up with. I rather miss the New York landscapes in spots, but the thing works so much better as a whole as a stage production compared to the movie. This version is so much tighter and has very few draggy bits. It is also ridiculously gorgeous, and has a cast as brilliant in it's way as the movie of my childhood was. I am just so happy that this exists and that a new generation gets to see it.
